[SCOW] SCOW - Mandatory Familiarization for Cruiser Skippers and Maintenance Day Reminder

Hi SCOW,

Just another reminder about Maintenance Day on Saturday, October 13th.  More details on what we plan to accomplish will be distributed next week.  Just remember to mark your calendar.
Note that our great Social Director Anna, will coordinate the coffee & bagels to help us get the day started and will also coordinate pizza & sodas for lunch.

Also, please be advised about the **MANDATORY** familiarization for Cruiser Skippers Interested in Sailing SCOW's New Cruiser "Hiatus".
At 2:00 pm on Saturday October 13 (immediately following Maintenance Day), there will be a brief familiarization seminar on G Dock for cruiser skippers interested in sailing Hiatus.

The familiarization is MANDATORY for cruiser skippers who would like to skipper the new boat (We'll keep a list of everyone who comes).  Cruiser skippers will not be granted FACES privileges for Hiatus until they attend a familiarization.

Hiatus is a beautiful boat and a fantastic addition to the SCOW fleet, but it's expensive and has idiosyncracies that we want to ensure that all our cruiser skippers are aware of.  There are additional systems and operational considerations that make it different than SCOW's other cruisers.  Please make every effort to attend both the Maintenance Day and the Hiatus familiarization (We will do a familiarization for Skirmish, too).  If you're unable to attend on the 13th, you'll have to make other arrangements with an appropriate club representative to learn about Hiatus before you'll be able to sail this boat.

If you have questions regarding the Mandatory familiarization, please contact Jonathan Thron at skipper@scow.org.

Regards,
Luis Rivas
SCOW 2012 Maintenance Director
