PANDEMIC UPDATE

 

Join us for the grilled foods and the traditional Székely Káposzta.  We will practice caution in handling utensils and will follow CDC guidelines:

Social distancing as much as possible, but NO MASKS ARE REQURED OUTDOORS.  Follow your own preference.

 

We had a great picnic last fall and can do it again!

 

We invite all Hungarians in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area and your friends to the semiannual Hungarian Picnic

Join us for an afternoon of fun, food, and music. (If you would like to play soccer or volleyball, please dress appropriately and bring a ball).

The picnic is free but your tax-deductible contribution is welcome to guarantee the expenses of the following picnic.  Suggested donations: $5 per person, less if you have a large family.   Donation box on site for cash or checks payable to AHEA (American Hungarian Educators Association).  Checks can also be sent to:

JOB SUMMARY 
For Our Future and For Our Future Action Fund seek a National Regional Data Director to support electoral and organizational data needs in 2 of our active states. We are looking for experts on voter file targeting, tracking, and reporting on progress-to-goal, data systems management, troubleshooting, and program analysis. For Our Future is proud to run a data-driven program, and this is made possible by our dynamic and mission-driven data team helping to drive each state's program. Each Regional Data Director shall serve as a point person for their assigned states' data programs, and manage support and resources provided by the national analytics team. This role will also help states leverage organizational data to advance progressive change, and empower teams that build power, and contribute to winning elections. This is a full-time position.

 

This position reports to the Deputy Data Director for States.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

●      Administer field data management tools to support in-state organizing and electoral programs of For Our Future and partner organizations' staff.

●      Work with State Directors and state program staff to manage quantitative program goals and build reports/analysis to hold For Our Future and partners accountable to those goals.

●      Work with the national analytics team to manage reporting on in-state For Our Future and partner programs.

●      With state program staff and the national analytics team, create, deploy, track, and manage universes for voter-file and volunteer database targeted contact programs.

●      Perform regular trainings for staff and partners on voter file data, data management systems and practices (including VAN), reporting, and other topics as needed.

●      Assist For Our Future Action Fund staff and partners in facilitating and executing program measurements, including digital tests, randomized control trials, and other longitudinal evaluations.

●      Employ best practices for data management in using voter file and voter contact platforms.

●      Function as part of a national data team to build and maintain the shared state and national data infrastructure necessary to support partner program work. 

●      Prepare ad-hoc program analysis as needed.

●      Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE (What knowledge, skills, abilities are needed to be successful in this role?)

●      At least two election cycles of experience in issue or community organizing or voter contact campaigns

●      Experience utilizing voter file and volunteer management platforms, such as VAN/VoteBuilder;

●      Extensive experience with Excel and Google Sheets

●      Understanding of voter file data and electoral targeting

●      Ability to communicate and train on technical subjects to non-technical audiences

●      Ability to communicate effectively, work well under pressure, and be detail oriented while handling multiple projects simultaneously, and meeting frequent deadlines

●      Excellent organizational, time-management, oral and written communications skills

●      Proficiency in SQL is highly desired

●      Relentless dedication to the organization's success and willingness to work long hours and the passion for inspiring others to do the same

●      Positive attitude and solution-based approach in high-pressure or difficult situations

●      Dedication to grassroots, local organizing and empowering state/local organizations to lead our work

●      Understands local community-based organizations and demonstrates respect for their leaders and programs

●      Strong customer service approach in providing technical support to coworkers and partner organizations

●      Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

●      Ability to maintain "Independent" firewall status, which may limit your ability to take outside employment or to volunteer with a candidate campaign or political party organization.

None

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

●      Because of COVID-19, state and local government stay at home orders, phased reopening orders, and other factors limit For Our Future's canvassing program. When these limits apply, your work environment will likely be your domicile (teleworking) or a socially-distanced office. When it is possible to safely and appropriately resume in-person organizing activity, this position is expected to interact with canvassers and field staff, community partners volunteers, or voters in person individually or collectively in group settings for various projects. The work environment will vary but work may include either an office environment or working outdoors, potentially in extreme weather conditions, including heat and cold.

 

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

●      Employees may be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends, holidays, and nights.

●      Employees may be required to abide by certain blackout dates during a campaign cycle or other key deadlines, and generally not allowed to take more than 2-3 days off consecutively during blackout periods. Emergencies are not affected by this policy.

 

For Our Future Action Fund offers the following benefits to all full-time employees:

■      Health insurance coverage - 95% employer paid and 5% employee paid

■      Paid parental leave

■      Retirement savings plan with matching contributions up to the first 5%

■      $100 monthly cell phone bill reimbursement

■      13 days paid time off every new calendar year, as well as all paid holidays

Responsibilities:

  • Help foster a culture of inclusivity, community, collaboration, and trust, including providing opportunities to build relationships with others on the team.

Qualifications:

        Work Experience: Required - At least 3-4 years of relevant experience in administrative support for a team; relevant internship experience may be considered. Preferred - Experience working directly for someone in senior leadership in an organization; experience doing so in a non-profit, political organization or campaign.

LCV is hiring two Directors of Development Partnerships to engage major donors in the New England and Mid-Atlantic regions, respectively. The Directors of Development Partnerships are part of a fundraising team with ambitious revenue and program goals. The Development department's fundraising program engages major donors for the LCV family of organizations including LCV, LCV Action Fund, LCV Victory Fund, and LCV Education Fund, and raises money for political candidates through our GiveGreen program.

 

The Directors of Development Partnerships join an extremely skilled, hard-working and growing development team, which is building the budget, power, and effectiveness of our family of organizations. This position is responsible for raising funds from individual and small foundation donors at four-, five-, and six-figure levels. Responsibilities include strategically identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors. The Directors of Development Partnerships will cultivate and solicit donors on their own and support the work of key senior staff and board members in their respective regions. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with methods and approaches to major gifts fundraising that encourages philanthropic involvement among communities of color.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a portfolio of up to 150 current, lapsed and prospective donors, deepening relationships in person or virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic, over the phone, and in writing.
  • Work with the Director of Prospect Research and Portfolio Management to expand the Major Gifts portfolio of prospective donors to include more people of color; broaden our current methods of identifying, cultivating and soliciting such donors.
  • Educate our current and prospective donors about the racial justice and equity work in which we are engaged.
  • Meet with donors and prospects in the respective region. It is expected that the Director of Development Partnerships will hold approximately 120 meetings annually with donors and prospects. Some of these meetings will be in conjunction with our state partners.
  • Develop and support cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for LCV's President and other key staff and board members.
  • Recruit donors and prospects to a variety of LCV fundraising and cultivation events.
  • Contribute to organizational and department efforts to infuse racial justice and equity into all aspects of our work, including our fundraising as well as service on committees or working groups, as needed.
  • Write persuasive and personalized emails, letters and proposals to donors and prospects including in depth descriptions of our programs and role in environmental advocacy and politics, ensuring racial justice and equity is centered in our messaging.
  • Participate in high-level planning to help set both fundraising and programmatic goals.
  • Work collaboratively with development, communications, and program staff, along with state partners, to develop compelling materials and talking points to maximize fundraising results, while maintaining our commitment to organizational values of racial justice and equity.
  • Engage donors as advocates by recruiting them to join program calls and meetings and encouraging their own lobbying on priority environmental issues.
  • Ensure donor portfolio records are current with all necessary and pertinent information, and input contacts and actions into the database in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Work Experience: Required - 4+ years of experience in fundraising, including a successful track record of personally meeting with donors and closing five- and six-figure gifts. Significant experience directly qualifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts prospects, including developing solicitation strategy from identification through stewardship. Significant experience contacting prospects and holding 10–20 donor visits per month. Preferred - Issue advocacy, organizing and/or political fundraising experience.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; self-motivated; exhibits strong judgment; and able to work independently and as part of a team. Must be creative, proactive, disciplined, and able to think strategically. An active and curious listener with a knack for building relationships and the ability to speak with authority as an organizational representative. Well organized and detail-oriented. The person in this position frequently communicates with major donors and must be able to exchange accurate information. The person in the position will frequently be expected to move between sites. Must be willing to travel; domestic travel is required with approximately 25-30% of working days on the road, as well as several trips for staff retreats, meetings and conferences in Washington, D.C. and elsewhere. The New England position is based in Washington, DC or Boston, MA; the Mid-Atlantic position is based in Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD, or Philadelphia, PA.
