Szeretettel hirdetem nagyheti alkalmainkat és hívom a Testvéreket gyülekezetünk közösségébe. 

Nagypénteken, április 7-én délután 6 órakor áhítatot tartunk, a Máté evangéliumából a passiót olvassuk. 

Vasárnap, április 9-én délelőtt 11 órakor istentiszteletet tartunk és megterítjük az Úr asztalát. 
Alkalmainkat a Wesley Seminary kápolnájában tartjuk (4500 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20016)

Kérném, hogy aki teheti, járuljon hozzá templomunk virágokkal való díszítéshez és lehetőség szerint hozzunk húsvéti liliomokat. Kérném azt is, aki tud virágot hozni, jelezze előre erre az emailre válaszolva.

Jöjjünk és hívjunk másokat is Isten Igéjének hallgatására.

I am sending the invitation for the Spring 2023 Hungarian Picnic.  All are welcome and besides food, games and even dances are possible.  Good food  (szekely kaposzta, a Hungarain pork dish, plus hamburgres, hot dogs and sausages and desserts are on the menu.

March 30, 2023 Photo: Alice Sadler HUMANIST/HIGHLIGHT Engaging with The Environment Alice Sadler serves as the Director of Development for the Environmental Film Festival, a 2022 HumanitiesDC Visions Grant recipient, hosted yearly in DC. Serving for nearly 4 years, she has seen a multitude of projects and films submitted every year. The Programming Team at DCEFF goes through hundreds of submissions and narrows the pool down to about 100 films with the goal of showcasing accessible, fun, and diverse stories about environmentalism and activism. Although the festival is centered around the films that are featured, Sadler remarks on her favorite part of this work, "there are so many rewarding aspects of the Festival, but I think one of the most incredible components is the collaborative nature of the festival—working with filmmakers, scientists, journalists, museums, and embassies." Sadler continues her reflection saying that bringing these stories and work to thousands in the city and around the world is not just fulfilling, but is helping people connect around a greater cause. Sadler says, "The opportunity to share new concepts, ideas, communities, struggles, and achievements with people across all sectors and walks of life is so important to building community."   The 31st Annual Environmental Film Festival concluded on March 26, but mark your calendars for the earth Day Encore Series April 18-23. Many of the films that were featured at the film will be available to view along with some filmmaker conversations included. Additionally, 300+ films from previous festivals are continuously available on the Watch Now platform.  HUMANITIES/ANNOUNCEMENTS CYCLE II GRANTS ARE NOW OPEN! HumanitiesDC is now accepting applications for the the Capacity Building Grant as well as the DC Oral History Collaborative Grant extension. These applications are due May 2, 2023. The Capacity Building grant offers an award amount of $25,000 and supports non-profit organizations with a humanities-focused mission and annual budgets of less than $2 million. For the DC Oral History Collaborative Extension grant, those who have received grants from the collaborative within the grant year are eligible to receive the extension. Click here to register for one of these sessions.  NEW OPPORTUNITY: Independent Practitioner Fellowship   Do you have a humanities project you're interested in pursuing at a higher level? Applications are now open for the HumanitiesDC Independent Practitioner Fellowship. This fellowship will provide $10,000 awards to DC-based public humanities practitioners whose voices and perspectives strengthen the humanities landscape in DC. We are particularly interested in supporting practitioners in the ideation and research phase of their project and aim to select a cohort of 8 to 12 Fellows.  An online information session for this opportunity will be held April 4th. Register here. HUMANITIES/NEWS HumanitiesDC Culture Series with Guest curator The Dap Project Long Time Barbers, First Time Storytellers The second of the Culture Series events was an absolute blast. Featuring women barbers from across the district, a packed audience got the chance to listen to the thrilling, timely, and heartwarming stories of those making waves, both figuratively and literally, throughout the District. With stories ranging from the nervousness of barbers taking their certification test, to developing a supportive community while cutting hair during COVID, attendees were invited into the barbershop and left with a fresh perspective. The event was a successful evening of storytelling, laughter, and community. Keep reading to see what's next from the Culture Series! Looking Back at the DC History Conference Hundreds of history enthusiasts came out to the 49th annual DC History Conference. Engaging panelists, knowledgeable presenters, and informative sessions filled this past weekend with topics ranging from the preservation of deaf printers at the Washington Post to exploring the colorism in the 1862 valuations of emancipated persons in DC. Overall, the conference was a welcoming and educational exchange of community and appreciation of our city's expansive history. HUMANITIES/HAPPENINGS DC Oral History Collaborative Beyond the Archives Supreme Courts Saturday, April 15th @ 2:30pm Busboys & Poets 625 Monroe St NE Register for this event here. Busted bracket? No worries, the March madness will continue well into April with the next Beyond the Archives event from the DC Oral History Collaborative. Over the course of many years, Washington, DC basketball legend Pennington Greene has had the opportunity to interview over 100 people who have contributed to the city's basketball history. Join us as they screen the trailer for the developing project, share some of the original oral history interviews, and discuss what it has meant to undertake Supreme Courts, this labor of love.  Culture Series Transgender Oral Histories   with Guest Curator Darby Hickey Thursday, April 20th @ 7pm Busboys & Poets 450 K Street NW Register for this event here.
