[SCOW] Re: 2013 Racing Planning

It seems I acted prematurely and in error. I apologize for jumping the gun, the error is entirely mine.

I have been nominated, but have not been elected. Please my error which comes from over eagerness, and please ignore my posting.

Dear members,

I have just been elected to the SCOW comittee as Racing Director (as punishment I presume).

I would like to organize a get-together for anyone who wants to make any input, suggestions, etc for the 2013 Flying Scot racing program. Cruisers will be organized thorugh a separate mechanism.

Those who are interested please notify me by e-mail and I will consolidate an e-mail notification list of interested persons. Please indicate if you are a skipper or crew, your preferred night of the week to meet, and any other bright ideas.

I will then propose a date or dates and location for an initial meeting.

The following is a very extensive list of some subjects which can be on the agenda. Clearly this is a very extensive list and we cannot pursue all of these directions. The idea of the initial and subsequent meetings (as necessary) is to narrow our goals down to the subjects of greatest interest to the greatest number of members.

- Fleet registration with FSSA.com and ensuring Class legality of some boats
- Race clinic and coaching
- Racing rules seminar
- Course layouts and locations
- Guest lectures
- Frostbiting
- Sunday Spring Series
- Memorial day long distance "round the buoys"
- Summer Wednesday evening pick-up racing - comments, ideas, etc.
- Sunday Fall Series
- Race officers (Start, Finish, scoring), training and rotational schedule
- Inter-club (with PRSA and/or DC Sail)
- Travel teams and permissions (Lake of the Woods, Selby Bay, West River)
- Equipment requirements (Flags, timers, etc)

If you enjoy racing Scots then this is a way to influence and contribute to next years
