SCOW members are doing great in the cruiser races with Henry Cheng scoring a first on Kalypso in his class last week, and SCOW boats Skirmish (Kyoko) and Rebecca (Jan) racking up firsts in their class this Tuesday! More folks from SCOW are dotted all over the fleet, having a lot of fun and representing us well in this fun fleet!
Let me know if you'd like to come out and join the fun this Saturday during the Cherry Blossom Regatta crewing on Skirmish. I'll be skippering Skirmish and the great Jan Earle will have Rebecca out on the course. Racing on SCOW's cruisers is open to all SCOW members, and SCOW Racing Skippers participating in DISC races must be SCOW and DISC members and need a second certified cruiser skipper aboard. You can get onto the SCOW Cruiser Crew list by emailing Racing Director Deepak Bellani at racing@scow.org (There will be more races after this one, so email him if you'd like to crew for future SCOW cruiser races. And let me know ASAP if you'd like to crew this Sat as space is limited and I'll be solidifying crew soon.) Also, there's an off chance that other DISC boats may be looking for crew and we can connect you with those guys. DISC is a great club you can read more and join DISC here: discsailing.org

Forecast for Saturday is Southwest winds 5 - 10 knots with a chance of thunderstorms and a 60% chance of rain, so folks'll need their foul-weather gear, and if lightning threatens we may hide in a safe haven. Folks with me will be arriving at the Marina at 9:00am Saturday to prep the boat, skipper's meeting is at 10:00 and first gun is at 10:45 (in the middle of some low low tides up near Hanes Point.) The Race Committee won't start races after 3:00pm, at which time we'll be heading back to the docks and then to the great DISC party!
