    OFA, Virginia is hiring Regional Field Directors! Regional Field
    Directors (RFDs) are the face of Organizing for America in communities
    across Virginia, working to advance President Obama's and the
    Democrats' agenda and grow the grassroots movement for electoral
    success in 2012.
     
    Responsibilities
    The primary responsibility of an RFD is to manage Field Organizers
    (FOs) who recruit, manage, and train volunteers. RFD responsibilities
    include but are not limited to developing regional organizing plans
    that reflect the needs and realities of their communities; hiring and
    training FOs; coaching FOs to develop neighborhood teams; coordinating
    field management and ensuring data integrity; facilitating and
    evaluating region-wide events; orchestrating earned media
    opportunities; grow their digital presence by meeting pre-determined
    metrics; and building relationships with local political and community
    leaders. RFDs report directly to their Deputy Field Director.
     
    RFDs build and grow neighborhood teams of volunteers who conduct the
    campaign's voter contact in line with their regional organizing plan.
    They identify and train team leadership and support them to hold phone
    banks, canvasses, house parties and other activities to increase
    support for President Obama. They hold volunteers accountable to
    goals set in the field plan and are responsible for ensuring data
    integrity. They facilitate and evaluate region-wide events;
    orchestrate earned media opportunities; grow their digital presence by
    meeting pre-determined metrics; and build relationship with local
    political and community leaders in Virginia. RFDs report directly to
    their Deputy Field Director and work with other State Leadership.
     
    Requirements
    • Experience managing and coaching multiple staff
    • Skilled in team-based, volunteer-led organizing
    • Comfortable with managing from metrics and has an understanding of
    field data
    • Familiarity with campaign technology platforms
    • Attention to detail and strategic viewpoints
    • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines

    A small Democratic fundraising firm is seeking a Finance Assistant.

    *Position Description*
     
    America Votes is seeking an experienced political data and technology
    specialist to oversee the data aspects of coordinated field programs by
    AV's partner organizations. The ideal candidate will have at least two
    cycles of experience helping progressive campaigns and/or organizations
    deploy and manage VAN and other political data tools, with a strong record
    of both high-quality work and resourcefulness in solving problems.

    *Responsibilities*
     
    - Work with AV and partner staff to evaluate data needs and implement
    program structures for coordinated field program in various districts
    nationwide.
    - Collaborate with AV state data staff to document best practices for
    field program management in VAN and assure their consistent application in
    partner field program.
    - Establish metrics, timeline, and media for field program reporting
    that provide accountability and actionable insights.
    - Manage special projects concerning targeting, tactical effectiveness,
    and political impact of programs.
     

     
    *Qualifications***
     
    · Candidates should have an understanding of common direct voter
    contact programs and strategies.
     
    · Strong VAN skills are required; familiarity with other online
    electoral/advocacy tools and constituent relationship management tools is a
    plus.
     
    · In-depth knowledge of voter files and how they are used in the
    field is crucial; experience with Catalist data a plus.
     
    · Strong Excel skills required; SQL skills will be required as well,
    but could be learned on the job by the right candidate.
     
    · Candidates should have a diplomatic, professional approach to
    problem solving while working independently or on a team.
     
    · Ability to manage several tasks/projects concurrently and
    prioritize work effectively.
     
    · *Must be a self-starter willing to work long irregular
    'campaign-style' hours and to travel as needed, especially during campaign
    season. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of persistence
    and resourcefulness in solving technical and data problems.*
     
    · Other useful but not required skills include knowledge of GIS and
    mapping, experience with Unix computing environments, knowledge of data
    manipulation via scripting languages, and experience with advanced
    visualizations in Excel, R, and other platforms.**
