[news] Westboro Baptist Church to protest Drew Carey

source:

Members of Westboro Baptist Church – a church widely known for its protesting of military funerals and rhetoric concerning LGBT persons – will be protesting Drew Carey's "The Best of the Midnight Show" at the Landmark Theatre in Greenwood Village, Colorado this Saturday evening.
Westboro Baptist Church's picket schedule -- mentioning this protest -- says,
Drew Carey is a proud fag supporter. He shamefully takes the platform that the Lord his God has given him and uses it to promote perversion and filth. He gives no thought to God, His commandments, or his latter end. Instead of thanking God for the gift he is given, he uses it to spit in his face. Instead of teaching this generation of rebel brats to obey their God, he teaches them more rebellion. This generation treats famous people as if they are gods
Westboro Baptist Church member Sam Phelps-Roper comments for this article.
Phelps-Roper explains that Carey's comedy show happens around the same time as Denver's pride event – which Westboro Baptist Church will also be protesting – and claims that Drew Carey, whom he calls a "fag-enabler," is "playing to the crowd and spreading the word about same-sex marriage." As part of the "entertainment juggernaut," Phelps-Roper explains, "Carey uses his platform to be an anti-christ who preaches the opposite of what God says."
Commenting on a documentary -- The Aristocrats -- in which Drew Carey appeared, Phelps-Roper explains that Carey -- along with Penn Jilette who was one of the producers of the documentary -- represents the filth of the entertainment industry. Phelps-Roper elaborates, "The whole point of The Aristocrats is to raise filth to an art-form to see who is the filthiest. That's what the entertainment industry is all about – making money, mocking God and elevating one's own morality or lack thereof to standards everyone has to bow to." Further commenting on Penn Jilette, Phelps-Roper says, "Penn Jilette styles himself as an atheist, but he is a fool. Jilette knows there is a god in heaven and will have answers to give.
Responding to some Tweets Drew Carey recently published, Phelps-Roper says, "Hell is too long, Drew Carey. Stop mocking god and his messengers – it's not good for your soul." Phelps-Roper, referring to a comedy show Drew Carey previously hosted, added, "The fool has replaced the Lord with "Whose Line is it Anyway?," but mocking God doesn't cut it. You'll have to account for how you used your resources to mock God and Wayne Brady won't be there to help."
Phelps-Roper, when asked about possible counter-protestors or people who are coming to Carey's show, says that he hopes people come and would be disappointed if they did not because they are a target audience who needs to hear the message of God. He says, "Come on out and behave yourself!"
