It can be made with jam, or fresh fruits, such as peaches, strawberries, red currants, etc.

My grandmother made this currant cake in Toledo in the 30's.  I can't find a recipe.  A simple sponge sheet cake with merengue and fresh currants.  I would love to have a recipe if you have one to share.
