"I want to learn new organizing and movement-building skills."
"Working people need a voice in the economy and politics of America."
"I want to spend my days organizing with people who really need help right now."

About WorkMoney
WorkMoney is a nonprofit organization dedicated to lowering costs and raising incomes for all Americans to make American life more affordable and American families more economically secure. We provide products, services, perks, benefits, tips, and tools to help members improve their financial lives. We are a trusted source of information about financial matters, economic policy, and public debates about the economy. We also activate and engage our members in advocacy campaigns to support policies and elected leaders to support our core vision that everyone in America can afford to live a good life. You can find out more about WorkMoney at workmoney.org and Facebook.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for organizers to work in the field (remotely) as part of our national organizing team. Organizers build relationships with our members -- everyday working people -- and help them take action to address their economic challenges.
We take our mission and the profession of organizing seriously. Our work is part of a long tradition of creating opportunities for everyday people to come together to build collective power to change the way the world works. We create these opportunities by organizing both in major metro areas and in places often forgotten in the corridors of power, from rural Alaskan towns to Rust Belt cities to Appalachian hamlets. We work hard and with a fierce urgency to bring working people together across the nation's dividing lines to build a new 21st century model of everyday people coming together that this moment desperately needs. That means meeting people wherever they're at, organizing with people who have never organized, and talking with a lot of people who disagree with you on a lot of things.
WorkMoney seeks an energetic individual who enjoys connecting virtually with new people from different walks of life. The organizer will work closely with Deputy Field Organizers along with team members across the organization – Advocacy, Digital Engagement, Data Analytics, and Member Value teams – to share insights from the field. These insights about members' challenges, their vision for their communities, and the kinds of solutions they believe will help them afford a good life are crucial sources of data for the broader team. Organizers are instrumental in developing and supporting members to share their stories and be a leader for the causes they care about. Organizers connect with members on daily calls and split their time between member leadership development and campaign execution. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities
Daily remote organizing and some on-the-ground field work
Member mobilization for events, meetings, and training
Build new and deep relationships with other everyday working Americans
Canvass and deep canvass as needed
Lead volunteers, and organizing staff as needed
Work with communications team to identify and prepare working people to tell their stories to media and other outlets
Work with policy and advocacy team to identify and prepare working people to share their stories with elected officials and staff
WorkMoney's model is new and innovative, a synthesis of digital-age and deep organizing. And it works. But you don't need to be an organizer or have years of experience to succeed in this role. Maybe it's an election, or the pandemic, or your lived experience that stirs you to act. Maybe you've been organizing already, and you realize it's time to apply your hard-earned experience to build new forms of social, political, and economic power for working people. If you have no previous organizing experience, we can train you up.
Requirements & Skills
Clear, concrete, and concise verbal and written skills
High level of comfort with Google Suite and a willingness to learn digital organizing tools (P2P SMS like ThruText, ThruTalk, Strive, and others)
Demonstrated commitment to economic security for individuals, families, and communities
Demonstrated commitment to leadership development, and the elevation of directly impacted people to share their stories and voices on issues affecting their families and communities
Interest in virtual and digital relationship building and organizing; must be comfortable connecting with individuals over telephone, SMS, and video chat
Ability to take initiative and to effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment at a growing organization
All levels of educational attainment are welcome
Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Commitment for (though not necessarily expertise in) issues facing working Americans
Above all, the belief nothing can stop what we can do together!
