Title: Director, Student Engagement (DSE)

Status: Exempt

Reports to: Senior Director, My School Votes

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000


Civic Nation seeks an innovative and experienced youth engagement specialist to become the Director of Student Engagement (DSE) for When We All Vote's My School Votes (MSV) program. Reporting to MSV's Senior Director, the DSE will be responsible for envisioning, planning, and implementing a student engagement strategy that aligns with When We All Votes' core values and MSV's goals. To do this effectively, the DSE will work very closely with the Director of Educator Engagement and Director of Parent Engagement.

This position will be responsible for creating the MSV student experience. This includes building the MSV Club program and the community of students who form the core backbone of the My School Votes program. The DSE will work with the program director to build MSV's field model and develop the Constructive Civics program that trains young people to become community leaders. Additionally, the DSE will collaborate with WWAV's Field Director and Organizing team to execute a field strategy for WWAV's focus states as well as national programming as it pertains to MSV. This includes developing content and resources for organizing and advocacy training, managing MSV's national train-the-trainer structure, creating additional support and opportunities for the MSV student network such as the development of a student pipeline and speaker series. The DSE will also work on formation of partnerships with national youth organizations. The DSE focuses on the student experience in order to ensure MSV reaches its national goals for growth, voter registrations, community-building, and leadership development.

The ideal candidate for this position brings at least three to five years of experience in youth engagement, volunteer management, and organizing. Has demonstrated the ability to foster an environment of collaboration and teamwork. This person should be proactive, detail-oriented, be an excellent project and staff manager, and thrive in balancing the execution of multiple priorities.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Execute role of Director of Student Engagement with a clear eye on MSV and WWAV goals.
  • Build, manage, and grow the MSV student community.
  • Develop the national organizing structure for MSV which includes recruiting and training Coordinators and Deputy Coordinators to lead districts; developing system for collecting and reporting data; working with the Training Director to develop training materials that organizers can use in focus states and on regional MSV calls.
  • Work with counterparts within CN to align work with MSV student programs.
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of the Constructive Civics programming.
  • Develop strategic timelines for the implementation of MSV student programming.
  • Develop student-centered programming which includes the Student Civics Pipeline, Quarterly Speaker Series, and Student Caucus meetings.
  • Develop and tailor resources and content to student community.
  • Develop streamlined systems for voter registration campaigns and data collection.
  • Ensure that MSV stays adaptive based on students ideas and inputs.
  • Work with Director of Organizing and Field Director to draft and implement field strategies to reach MSV goals.


YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • At least 3-5 years of experience working in organizing or issue advocacy.
  • Experience working on political or education issue-based campaigns.
  • Effectively built, trained, and managed large volunteer teams.
  • Established and maintained relationships with a range of professional levels.
  • Collected and maintained a database to track and monitor goals. 
  • Demonstrated success in meeting campaign-related goals.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
