Lufthansa the best?????
Here is my story - draw your conclusion.
Sometime in April I bought a ticket from Philadelphia to Budapest, through an online discount agency for a Lufthansa flight in the range of $1400. The agency charged my credit card, -- and in about 10 days I discovered that Lufthansa also charged my card for the same amount. This is paying twice for the same item. (Just imagine how strange this is - like you buy e.g. a pair of adidas sneakers and a few days later the company adidas also charges your card.)
Lufthansa charged me without sending a notification, a bill or receipt - without contacting me at all. Of course I called them, asked straightforward questions and got some mumbling, which I may summarize as "you will see what happens yourself" Practically nothing. So I called my credit card company (luckily I paid with credit card) and reported an unrecognizable charge from Lufthansa. I felt I paid the online travel agency, but I bought nothing from Lufthansa directly. They took the Lufthasa charge off -- and as a response, Lufthansa cancelled my ticket, even though it was paid. Again -- they cancelled my ticket without notifying me in any form of communication - I figured it, because I checked my travel status, because I had a bad feeling. I contacted Lufthansa again - and agai I got nowhere with them. I could not believe it was Lufthansa, the company I regarded so highly before.I paid a lot of money for an airline ticket - and the flight status on the web showed it was cancelled. (the ticket was cancelled, not the flight.)
Before you ask, of course I tried to contact the travel agency (edreams.com) but they have no contact information, no email, no chat, no phone number - nothing.
I understand that the agency must be a phony one, but the way Lufthansa "handled" the situation is completely unacceptable.
Finally I cancelled the edreams purchase also through my credit card and booked a completely different British airways ticket.
edreams still has no contact info on the web - except of a phone number that does not work. I sent a message through their facebook page in May, and I got an email answer from them 3 days (!!!) ago, saying that this is all the fault of Lufthansa. This means they are still in business somehow. I also posted negative review about them and also about Lufthansa at BBB. I was surprised to see how many negative reviews Lufthansa had in 2020.
Sorry for the long story, I am only publishing it as a warning, so that we all have to be vigilante, double check our purchases, because even decent companies behave very badly during today economic situation. And I do not regard Lufthansa as a decent company any more.
