Friends and Colleagues,

The SPIN Academy is back for the 14th (!) year. I am so pleased to serve as the Chair of the Advisory Committee for this event, and wanted to give you the first heads-up that applications for the 2012 events are now open!

SPIN Academy remains a unique space for training in the fundamentals of strategic communications for nonprofit organizations and a tremendous cross-sector networking opportunity for our participants. Our team at LightBox Collaborative is delighted to be among the many talented trainers and coaches who come together for this important event. The 2012 line up will feature three solid days of training on branding for nonprofits, strategic clarity, storytelling, the latest tactics available to communicators for change and all the core tenents of strategic communications that we believe are vital for change-makers.

This year, the LightBox Collaborative team is delighted to be involved in TWO SPIN Academies: the original at Walker Creek Ranch Northern California's Marin County August 21 – 24, and a second version in New York October 1-3 hosted at the Ford Foundation.

More information on the events and an application can be found at www.spinacademy.org

The SPIN Academy is intended to support progressive grassroots organizations, with participants often working in the fields of education reform, economic justice, immigration reform and immigrant integration, civil rights and liberties, and environmental conservation, among other issue areas. Participants are chosen through a competitive application process.

If there are other nonprofits you think would be interested in the SPIN Academy, please take a minute to forward this mail!

Best,

Holly Minch
SPIN Academy Advisory Committee Chair & Principal of LightBox Collaborative
