Position Description:
The Compliance Manager is an integral position in the Compliance and Financial Management Team overseeing the execution of compliance contracts, running the day-to-day communications of the team, and serving as external liaison with compliance partners. This position will develop, update, and implement systems and tools needed to facilitate compliance team requirements. The Compliance Manager will work with teams throughout the organization to ensure the functions of the Compliance and Financial Management Team run efficiently. In addition, the Compliance Manager will facilitate operations and program deliverables to ensure the goals and essential outcomes of the team are achieved.
A portion of time will be spent working with Community Change's sister organization, Community Change Action.
Principal Responsibilities:
ComplianceManagement
Owns and manages key components of compliance projects under the supervision of the Director of Compliance and Financial Management.
Works closely and professionally with the relevant allies, partners, consultants and units across the organization to ensure the goals and essential outcomes of the team are tracked, evaluated and met.
Manages the implementation timeline for the Compliance Academy. (Includes sourcing vendors/consultants, editing curriculum materials, and overseeing the recruitment process.)
Informs and implements the design and/or logistics for team related meetings, compliance trainings, and presentations. (includes securing and managing contracts and developing and tracking budgets.)
Provides management and tracking of the Compliance and Financial Management budgets in coordination with the budget Directors.
Coordinates and manages various projects led by the team including internal organizational projects as well as external programmatic projects.
Team Workflows
Provides extensive and effective management of the Director of Compliance and Financial Management scheduling needs.
Analyze and redesign team workflow systems to maximize efficiency.
Ensure monthly financial management meetings with various Budget Managers meet financial management goals; in collaboration with the Director of Organizational Budgeting.
Supports the team by overseeing the design and resourcing meetings by creating agendas, capturing notes, and driving timely follow-up.
Schedules and plans external meetings. This includes compiling and organizing relevant background materials, preparing agenda and minutes, overseeing logistics, developing and managing budgets and monitoring follow-up activities.
Maintains current electronic files of all compliance training materials.
Supports the legal and compliance review process for key campaigns.
Manages consultant and vendor relationships under the supervisor of the Director of Compliance and Financial Management.
Drives key logistical support, process and submit expense reimbursements, and credit card reconciliations for the Director of Compliance and Risk Management.
Writing and Communications
Writing: prepares draft presentations, drafts and formats letters and emails as appropriate for general and routine correspondence; mail correspondence, including potentially confidential information, both internally and externally.
Performs research and provides writing support to the Director of Compliance and Financial Management.
Provides design, editing, and writing support to develop and/or strengthen Compliance Academy training curriculum.
Manages correspondence with compliance consultants and vendors.
Liaison between compliance team and Compliance staff from key partners.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
At least five years of experience in a non-profit or similar environment.
Excellent meeting and event planning and logistics coordination.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work accurately under deadlines and the pressure of a fast-paced work environment.
Strong writing and editing skills.
Experience managing calendars for senior-level staff/executives.
Computer literacy required, including MS Office Suite skills.
Excellent interpersonal communications skills and discretion.
Team player with the capacity to be resourceful and flexible.
Commitment to economic, race and gender justice.
This position reports to: Director of Compliance and Financial Management
Classification: Community Change recognizes a staff bargaining unit affiliated with IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is included in Community Change's bargaining unit and is covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
Travel Requirements: This position may require some limited travel.
Salary & benefits: Annual salary of $70,000 to $85,000. Community Change also offers an excellent benefits package, which includes 4 weeks of annual paid vacation; additional paid holiday leave between December 24th and January 1st; 8% employer contribution to retirement account after six months of employment (and 3% employer contribution for the first 6 months); and a choice of generous health insurance plans.
Position Location: Community Change/Action is based in Washington, DC. Washington, DC is the preferred location for this position. Remote work is acceptable, however (frequent) visits to the DC office may be required upon the office reopening from the COVID-19 pandemic.
