GALVANIZE: FREE Film Festival Passes

Good afternoon!

Our festival closes out on Sunday and I have a few all access passes that have been unclaimed.

Check out the festival and if you think you have time to watch a few of the films (they are all excellent) - respond to this email and I'll send you the link.

Three of my films are also featured so if you haven't seen Clothed Minds (doc), The Catcher (award-winning short), or NOISE (micro film about black male teens) - here's your chance!

It's focused on teens so I'd love to give them to a young person.

Happy Friday!

Best,

Carletta

IN THE LOOP Program of Success (ITL) is proud to partner with KIDS FIRST! Film Festival to celebrate its 30th anniversary in Washington, DC with an incredible hybrid event celebrating films made by and for young people. The festival runs from September 16 – 26 with a mix of in-person and virtual events. The theme of the festival is Amplify the Voice of Youth with a focus on engaging them in thoughtful dialogue around films that have a message.

ITL kicks off the nearly two-week celebration on Thursday, September 16 featuring the virtual premiere of Amazon Studios' My Name Is Pauli Murray, which takes a look at the life and ideas of Pauli Murray, a non-binary Black lawyer, activist and poet who influenced both Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Thurgood Marshall. This documentary is a missing piece of history that amplifies the life of an African American female whose struggles pushed her to create everlasting change in our modern society and who stood up to segregation a decade before Rosa Parks. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with some local DC activists and community influencers.

The following nine days offer a stunning collection of shorts and features from indie and student filmmakers worldwide and are grouped by topics such as: Race Relations in a Diversifying Nation, The Outsiders, The Arts and the Artists Among us, Life Happens, Foreign Exchange and Insights, Celebrating Young Creatives and Animation Celebration. Additionally, two features have post-screening Q&A discussions with the filmmakers of Quaranteened: The Musical from The Theater Bug from Seattle on Sunday, September 19, and 75 Degrees West by 11th grader Zachery Parrish on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.

Our closing event is Sunday, September 26 at 5 pm EST.

Join us with an all-access pass at https://intheloopkfff.eventive.org.
