Last Friday, in lieu of a Cocktial Concert, we dedicated our digital platform to "Voices IN Solidarity," a live-streamed event featuring a diverse group of IN Series performers sharing from their hearts: songs, poems, refrains of love, anger, remorse, sorrow, and justice-seeking in support of our Black neighbors and joining the fight for justice, equality, and the end of systemic racism. The concert ended with a virtual choir like you've never seen - fifteen IN Series singers supporting the inimitable Marian Anderson in a recording from her groundbreaking Lincoln Memorial performance. We hope you'll take a moment to enjoy this clip and explore the complete concert, as we seek to amplify the voices crying for change and provide a space for expression, healing and hope while we gather strength for the work ahead.
Order Father's Day OPERAgrams by June 13th!
OPERAgrams orders have generated over $3,000 to support our family of artists at this challenging time. We invite you to place orders now for Father's Day, summer birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays, and continue to sustain musicians whose livlihoods are threatened by continued closures and cancellations.
IN Series OPERAgrams are personalized video recordings of your favorite songs and arias, performed by the IN Series artists you know and love. Each is individualy recorded to include a dedication of your design - to someone you love, or to yourself!

Nine beloved local singers have each supplied a list of carefully curated songs and arias to choose from (Find the complete list on our website). For a donation of $100, choose the artist and the song, and have a customized video recording sent directly to the inbox of your choice on a designated date.

100% of your donation goes to the artists who make your video, helping carry those in vulnerable careers through a potentially difficult season.

Click below to be directed to the OPERAgrams page of our website. Explore the singers' listings, make a donation, and link to the order form. Questions? email cara@inseries.org

Doug Rule spotlights our company's optimistic, responsive approach to the coming season:

"As horrible as the pandemic has been, it has also invited 'the opportunity for self-examination and reinvention,' Nelson says. 'And if there's anything that needs a lot of self-examination and reinvention, it's opera.' Furthermore, a small organization such as the In Series might be ideally positioned to "use this opportunity to do something that could help reinvent the art form in a way it's needed for a long time."

Hear Timothy Nelson on Opera Box Score!
Opera Box Score is America's Talk Radio Show About Opera: the only show in America that treats opera like a sport. They talk about opera singers, opera productions, opera repertoire and opera gossip... all with the mania, insight and stats of sports fans.

Last week, the show featured an interview with our Timothy Nelson, who discussed his plans for the Virtual Opera House, the opportunity presented by going digital, and the work social justice in opera.

You can now stream the latest production from LA's experimental opera company, The Industry. Watch the video version of Sweet Land, a performance that disrupts the dominant narrative of American identity.

IN Series is the standard-bearer for innovative opera theater in Washington DC. Working with local artists and diverse communities worldwide to create novel works grounded in opera and song, we challenge and reimagine these forms, folding in an expanding range of aesthetic and cultural traditions. Assuming leadership from Carla Hübner, who founded the company in 1982, Timothy Nelson became Artistic Director in 2018, quickly establishing the newly rebranded "IN Series" as DC's home for "Thought, debate, history, and innovation" (DC Metro Theatre Arts) in opera.
