Emergent Seed will support emerging writers and composers in the DC Metro area with $500 microgrants for their original work in one of 4 genre categories - Poetry, Storytelling, Song & Lyrics, and Instrumental. Applicants will submit their original work in the form of 2-5 minute videos and those selected will have the opportunity to broadcast their work in a virtual event. Emergent Seed's goals are to address the immediate financial stress caused by coronavirus closures, as well as invest in the local creative economy and the virtual infrastructure for performing arts. To be eligible, applicants must live in the District or one of the 6 adjacent counties, be 18-35 years old, and have been financially impacted by the coronavirus closures.
