Subject: JOB: Campaign Director, MoveOn.org - Location Flexible
Campaign Director
Time and again, MoveOn.org has changed the face of politics in America by harnessing the power of the Internet and our 7 million members. We´ve taken on hugely ambitious state, local, and national issue campaigns-and we´ve won. We´ve proven that progressive candidates can fund and power their campaigns primarily through grassroots online efforts. And we´ve powered innovative new ways to organize around issues from health care to clean energy, from gun violence to net neutrality.
At MoveOn, we focus like a laser on progressive campaigns at the intersection of political efficacy and high member energy. As a MoveOn.org Campaign Director your role will be to work with a team of dedicated staff and millions of members to design, build, and execute new models of online and offline campaigning that will maximize the impact of MoveOn members in local, state and national fights.
In this job, you´ll have both the independence and resources to achieve breakthrough innovations, working hand in hand with an all-star team of programmers, media professionals, analytics experts, field experts, and other on-the-ground and online organizers. If you´re a top-notch organizer looking to create the next big thing in political change by leveraging the power of the Internet, then this job is for you.
Requirements: To set our Campaign Director up for success, we have identified three critical skill sets necessary to excel in this role-roughly grouped into Organizing, Communications and Technology. Strong candidates will be skilled in all three areas. However, we also encourage candidates to apply who don´t have deep expertise in all three areas, but have exceptional skills in one or two areas, and the hunger and aptitude to learn the other areas quickly.

Constantly thinking of creative new ways to mobilize people and have an impact
Understands, trusts, and connects with grassroots activists and wants to support them in doing impactful, creative work
Skilled at creatively thinking about how to combine community organizing best practices with scalable tech tools
Experience directing advocacy campaigns is preferred
Ability to manage project teams of staff and large numbers of volunteers
Communications
Powerful writer for popular audiences, especially short and grabby email actions
Knows how to make campaigns newsworthy and generate press coverage to help them win
Able to quickly synthesize information about new topics
Technology
Adept at figuring out creative ways of leveraging technology to make good things happen
Skilled at testing new uses of technology, and knows how to measure what´s working
Has managed tech projects, including scoping and spec´ing out web tools
Experienced with HTML, and ideally with CSS, SQL, Perl or similar technologies
Work Environment
Likes teamwork, but can work independently day-to-day
Can plan and manage complex projects under relentless deadlines
Is low-ego and high-output (like the rest of our team)
Can change directions quickly and frequently: "build it, test it, iterate quickly"
Likes working hard with a hard-working team
Thrives in a virtual office: communicates well on conference calls, IM and email
Location: Anywhere in the continental U.S.-MoveOn operates on a virtual office model, collaborating online.
Salary: Salary is highly competitive and benefits include health and dental insurance and four weeks vacation.
