This is our 3rd workshop this 19/20 season which has been devoted to areas of mental wellness and self-care. We've had some lively, enlightening conversations. And we hope you'll join us.

ACTORS ARENA WORKSHOP with GUEST ARTIST: NICOLE BREWER

Monday, March 16th from 12:30 to 3:30 PM

Actors Arena, in conjunction with Galvanize, a network for Artists of Color, is thrilled to announce our next workshop lead by Nicole Brewer. Nicole is a theatremaker who is a passionate advocate for anti-racist theatre and in 2019 launched reportracisttheatre.com as tool for reporting racism when it occurs in theatre. Nicole has spent the last five years refining and practicing an inclusive method of theatre training and practices which she calls Conscientious Theatre Training (CTT). She has authored four articles about the need for the theatre industry to shift from racist and oppressive models to anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices. Her article Why Equity Diversity and Inclusion Are Obsolete was reported by American Theatre as one of their top ten most read stories of 2019.

Nicole Brewer earned her M.F.A. in Acting from Northern Illinois University and her B.F.A. from Howard University. She's worked professionally as an actor, director and educator. Nicole has lead workshops in CTT, focusing on embodied acting techniques and how participants can utilize CTT to disrupt traditional training, at several TCG conferences, The Black Theatre Festival in Winston Salem, North Carolina, in the UK at The Globe, Goldsmith's University, and University of Cambridge.

Nicole currently residues in Washington DC with her husband and three imperfectly perfect children.
