| I concur. In most cases, there is no need for "OFFICIAL" translations in the United States. I am a U.S. State-Department certified translator who has done hundreds of "official" translations in the past. If anyone says or claims that he or she can complete an "official" translation for you in the U.S. is most likely an impostor. In America, the profession of translating documents or texts is completely decentralized. Anyone can become a translator and only the skills of the translator is rated, typically by customers. In Hungary, the situation is different. The state still holds a monopoly on translations by OFFI (Országos Fordító és Fordításhitelesítő iroda), which makes it impossible for hundreds of superbly qualified translators to do business in Hungary. It is state-induced discrimination. These old communist institutions, such as OFFI and Közjegyzői Kamara (which is also a state-owned monopoly) should be banned and discontinued. All you need to do at the end is to have a notary validate it (which I can also help with since I am a notary in the State of New York.
