    *POLITICAL COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR*
     
    The Atlas Project is seeking a Political Communications Director to oversee
    political research, analysis, and communications for our growing
    organization.
     
    The Director will lead the Political Communications Department, managing 8
    Regional Political Analysts. The Political Communications team:
     
    o Produces high-quality political research and analysis on election
    results, registration data, Census data, news developments, and legislation
    on tight deadlines;
     
    o Serves as primary point of contact for day-to-day client inquiries, to
    fulfill incoming requests and conduct outreach to increase client
    engagement; and
     
    o Implements the organization's strategic communications efforts

    *Responsibilities*
     
    · Review all department work products, providing constructive
    feedback throughout the research and writing process on reports, memos, and
    presentations.
     
    · Work with executive director and senior staff to develop realistic
    timelines for work product; actively monitor political news across the
    country; identify key issues of interest to clients and work with political
    team to draft blog posts and client alerts.
     
    - Develop and execute strategic objectives of the organizational
    Communications Plan.
     
     
    - Lead message strategy development, scheduling, drafting and tracking:
    Ensure timely email schedule is maintained, including drafting, formatting
    and approval process management. Scheduling email messages for the upcoming
    weeks and ensuring Atlas events, activities, and products are thoroughly
    promoted. Track message metrics and adjust strategy accordingly.
    - Develop and implement organizational strategy for earned media
    coverage, including relationship building with the press, development of
    materials for the media, and tracking of current events to identify
    opportunities for organizational coverage.
    - Manage the daily *Progressive Compass* blog on the Atlas Project site
    by incorporating blog posts written by the Atlas team and promoting these
    posts widely online. Author and edit additional content as needed.
     
     
    - Ensure Atlas social media accounts are current and in support of the
    long-term strategy. This also includes managing the Senior Political
    Communications Analyst in growing the organizations' online follower bases
    by posting provocative, timely updates and engaging with our fan
    communities.**

    *Key Qualifications*
     
    *Experience*
     
    - 5-7 years of political experience, with previous management experience
    is required.
    - 2+ years managing communications strategy preferred.
    - Demonstrated success generating press coverage. Experience with
    monitoring and analyzing performance statistics

    · Excellent research and writing skills
     
    · Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
     
    - Gifted project manager able to develop realistic work plans and ensure
    timely and successful implementation
    - Outstanding interpersonal skills with experience establishing and
    developing relationships with strategic partners
    - Skilled communicator with a natural talent for editing and creating
    content for websites and social media platforms, incredibly strong
    attention to detail, and an understanding of how to utilize language to
    elevate organizations and ideals
     
    · High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Catalist, VAN
