János Lakatos, 2nd Place Winner in the amateur adult category of the Golden Strings of America competition in 2012, graduated from the Semmelweis Medical University, Budapest, in 1988. He is a specialist in internal medicine and cardiology, working in the Tata-Bábolna-Kocs area.

He started his basic cello studies with Erzsébet Bányai 42 years ago, and later he became a private student of Tetsuya Kiuchi for a few years. He is a permanent participant at the International Master Course Tata, studying there under the direction of Prof. Károly Botvay.

He is a member and cello accompanist of the Budapest Monteverdi Choir and cellist of the Bolyai String Quartett. He often gives solo and chamber music concerts in Hungary and in other European countries. Ilona Kolbe has been his longtime chamber music partner, with whom he regularly performs at charity concerts.

Ilona Kolbe, a pharmacist, is a senior consultant with Cyclolab R&D Laboratory in Budapest, Hungary. She is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications and lectures.

Her education started in her hometown of Pápa and continued in Győr (Music Conservatory) and Budapest (Bartók Conservatory; Semmelweis University).

During her university years, she joined the Semmelweis Chamber Orchestra as continuo player and piano soloist. They interpreted numerous Piano and Organ Concertos of Bach, Haydn, Mozart and Händel under the direction of László Tardy. She is a prominent member of the Physician Musicians Society of Hungary (Magyarországi Orvosmuzsikusok Közhasznú Egyesülete). She he has also organized concert series and initiated a Piano Trio. She prepares for her performances with the help of master teacher Csilla Varga.
