Last week I emailed about a monologue competition idea and have been thrilled with the response. Actors (and some brave civilians) from across the nation have asked to sign up. The call is for Black actors for this round. I'm attaching a screenshot of that post in case anyone still wants to jump in, BUT the deadline for submissions is still Monday, April 27 at 12PM EDT.
Since then, I've managed to gather a panel of judges who will help choose the Top 3 video submissions. I'm so thankful to this group of people for agreeing to judge: Paige Hernandez-Funn (director, writer, producer, actor, choreographer, B-Girl, founder of B-Fly Entertainment), Tuyet Thi Pham (Helen Hayes Award-winning actor, fight choreographer and teaching artist), Jjana Valentiner (actor, director, writer, teaching artist, make-up artist, improv artist and activist) and Edward Daniels (actor, producer, founder of Scorpio Entertainment, founder of Monologue Madness and Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner for the Capitol Riverfront/Navy Yard region of DC).
1st Place will now receive $75
2nd Place will now receive $50
3rd Place will now receive $30
That being said, if any other "generous soul" cares to donate, 100% of donations will go to the winners. Feel free to reply to this email, if interested.
