Join us for the 3rd play of our Embassy Theater Series: 'Tales from the Vienna Woods' by Ödön von Horváth
On July 25 from 6:30 p.m., we will be screening Ödön von Horváth's play from 1931 in the direction of László Bagossy. Professionally recorded show of the Örkény Theater of Budapest will be screened in Hungarian with English subtitles.
Summary: Disowned by her father and abandoned by her lover, a young woman is forced into prostitution to support her child. Tales from the Vienna Woods is a bitter satire about the deception and brutality of the petite-bourgeoisie that reflects the hardships and anxieties of the late 1920s during the global economic crisis.The play flies us into the life of the 1930's middle-class with lots of music.
The show won the Best Performance Award at the Hungarian National Theater Conference in 2017 in Pécs.
