Our internships offer great opportunities for dedicated workers interested in learning more about the political process and enhancing their skills in the political realm. By working under principals of different divisions, our interns are able to learn about the industry and hone their skills in order to understand what it takes to be successful in politics today.

 

Strong candidates will have campaign/political experience, a strong interest in politics and the political process, and a committed work ethic. They should be dependable, flexible, detail-oriented, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, be comfortable working independently, and possess excellent writing skills. All candidates must be comfortable with Microsoft Office and Outlook.

 

The following positions are available:

 

Communications Intern: Will work under the principals of our communications division. Candidates should have strong writing, editing, and communication skills, and be interested in advocacy campaigns relating to clean energy, sustainable resources, grassroots organizing, and social justice.

 

Digital Communications Intern: Will work under the supervision of our communications principals. Top candidates will have experience writing for the web, be adept at using social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.), and be interested in advocacy campaigns relating to clean energy, sustainable resources, grassroots organizing, and social justice. Experience in video editing and graphic design is a plus.

 

Primary responsibilities include: Assisting in the research and planning of online marketing and advocacy campaigns. Creating content for social media channels and blogs. Helping with the development of digital collateral including but not limited to email campaigns, web ads, and infographics. Keeping up-to-date with digital media practices and trends. Assisting with general office duties, as needed.

 

Opposition Research Intern:  Will work closely with the Research Director and the rest of the Communications Department, gaining research and strategic communications skills specific to the political world. 

Qualified candidates should:

1.     Be interested in learning how to conduct opposition research and how to use research on targets to a conduct strategic communications strategy (e.g. fact-checking opponents' arguments, researching campaign finance records or other public records to play defense against attacks in the press, etc.).

2.      Have an interest in developing a working understanding of sources of research, including news databases, Federal Elections Commission filings, criminal and civil filings, and other public records.

3.     Have very strong writing and research skills.

4.     Have a strong interest in politics and the political process, and read political news every day.

5.     Be dependable, flexible, detail-oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and comfortable working independently.

6.     Be able to commit at least three months to the internship program.


Applicants for any of the positions above should be able to commit at least 3 months to the internship program and work 20 hours per week. Interns will receive a stipend of $800/month with $50/month for travel expenses. The internship will begin in January 2017 and will continue through end of the semester. We will be flexible with specific dates for students who need to return to school prior to the end of the internship.
