[Unicum] Is longa meta a predecessor to baseball? Translator Needed

A researcher interested in the origins of baseball recently learned about longa meta while on a trip to Hungary, and he is seeking help to translate Hungarian source materials.

The researcher is Larry McCray, and he thinks that longa meta could be a predecessor to baseball.  During the trip, he learned that many Hungarians think of meta as a valued Hungarian base-running folk tradition, now greatly diminished.  At the Ethnographic Museum in Budapest, he was led to earlier survey-type sources on the game.  It appears that the game was known in about 60 locations in Hungary.  His preliminary overview can be seen at http://protoball.org/Meta,_or_Longa_Meta

If anyone in our Hungarian community can help with translation and with simple web searches—or know someone who might—kindly contact Larry at Lmccray@mit.edu.  Specialized knowledge and interest in baseball origins are not essential.
