The Children's Nutrition Fund (CNF) is sponsoring a concert to support starving and malnourished children in Hungary. The proceeds of this event will be used for the drive, "The Pharmacy of the Poor". In the frame work of this program, the children of ten Hungarian families, living in the countryside under exceptionally deep poverty will receive medication free of charge.

 

The soloist of the concert is Juliana Layendecker. She was born into a musical family in 1998 as the youngest of six children. She started violin at the age of six. From 2010-2012 she was co-concert master of the American Youth Concert Orchestra . In 2012  Juliana won 1st prize in the Junior and Senior sessions of the International Music Center of Lucerne. Juliana is currently concert master of the American Youth Philharmonic.


  Juliana will be accompanied on the piano by her father, Dr. Dennis M. Layendecker, Director of the George Mason University School of Music. Prior to his appointment to George Mason Dr. Layendecker served 26 years on active duty with the United States Air Force as a band commander, conductor, artistic director, public spokesperson, educator, and diplomat for the Air Force at home and abroad.
