Change Corps Organizer: 2015-2016 Job Description

Our generation is calling for, and yearning for, change. And yet … change is stuck on so many of the issues that our generation cares about. That's where Change Corps comes in.

Change Corps is a paid, one-year full-immersion training program in grassroots organizing. When Change Corps organizers complete their training, they'll know how to organize people to get change unstuck on the issues they're passionate about and will have an opportunity to become part of a wave of new organizers who will keep pushing and prodding our country forward for years to come.

What will you work on?

Organizers receive 8 weeks of classroom training and spend most of the year gaining hands-on field experience working to make a difference on issues like women's rights, gun violence, immigration reform, voting rights, marriage equality and money in politics. Organizers will work on 3-5 different campaigns throughout the year in cities across the country, providing critical field support for partner groups leading the charge on these issues and many more. This fall, the Change Corps Class of 2015 campaigned to lift up progressive champions and Save the Senate with MoveOn.org and organized to stop gun violence with Everytown for Gun Safety.

Training

You'll learn the skills necessary to plan town hall meetings, build and work with coalitions united for a common cause, set up and speak at press conferences, recruit and train volunteers, collect petitions, direct a canvass office, and much more. You'll learn how to mobilize a community toward a common goal and build the kind of support and grassroots action that persuades decision-makers to stop obstructing change and embrace it instead. And you'll learn from the best: Our trainers include Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood, Justin Ruben of MoveOn.org, and Bill McKibben of 350.org.

Salary & Benefits

Organizers starting in August 2015 will earn a salary of $25,000. You'll receive two weeks of paid vacation, paid sick days, and paid holidays. After your third month, you'll be eligible to join our group health plan at no cost to you, and to apply for college loan assistance.

Qualifications:

Does social change get you fired up?

We're looking for:

  • ·       Young leaders who are ready to take on some of the biggest challenges of our day.
  • ·       Bright, talented, passionate people with a strong work ethic.
  • ·       Problem solvers who don't just see problems but envision creative solutions.
  • ·       A strong commitment to working toward goals and getting results.
  • ·       Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
