•          Ability to travel extensively and valid driver’s license

•          Bachelor of Arts

•          5+ years of successful experience in union or other social justice advocacy

•          Demonstrated written and analytical skills

•          Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of governmental relations and related issues

•          Experience in a public role as a social advocate

•          Demonstrated familiarity with healthcare justice and other issues affecting working women

We are seeking a development professional to serve as our Major Gifts Assistant.

This position reports to the Director of Major Gifts and will work as a part of the Major Gifts team in a large development office. 

As part of the Major Gifts team, your tasks will include:

  • The Major Gifts Donor Acknowledgement Program;
  • Data retention, management, standardization, accuracy, and mining;
  • Assisting with event coordination;
  • Detailed monthly financial reconciliation reports;
  • Reconciling donations each month received through multi-channeled outreach efforts
  • Generating revenue reports of major donor program for Board meetings;
  • Leading the annual audit with accounting for major gifts;
  • Assisting with the major donor budget planning and forecasting;
  • Daily tasks such as filing, sorting and opening all development mail, scanning checks, and batching donations; and
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to the public interest.
  • Excellent communication and solicitation skills, both oral and written.
  • A basic understanding of database systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and frequent deadlines.
  • Level-headedness and good judgment; a sense of humor; willingness to learn.
