Regina Jonas, voiced in the film by Rachel Weisz, was the first female Rabbi. The daughter of an Orthodox Jewish peddler, Jonas was ordained in Berlin in 1935, but not without a fight. During the rise of the Nazi era, her sermons soothed and encouraged persecuted Jews.  She perished in Auschwitz in 1944. Director Diana Groo employs a jazzy archival style reminiscent of Péter Forgács, and gives voice to Regina's life.  Groó, born in 1973 in Budapest, is a feature and documentary film director. She received her education in Budapest, obtaining a BA in French-Hebrew from the Faculty of Arts, ELTE, followed by an MA in TV and Film Directing at the Hungarian Film Academy.  She co-founded DocClub and Madzag Film associations, and Katapult Film. Since 2001, she has been director and scriptwriter at Katapult Film studios. Groo's lecture will include film clips from the movie, which is a British, Hungarian and German co-production by Katapult Film & Malcah Productions (2013)
