City Space as a Vicious Circle - visual design of Bela Tarr's Man from London
The well-known Hungarian architect, film designer and human rights activist László Rajk worked as production designer with Bela Tarr on his last two movies, he Man from London (2003-2007, nominated in Cannes) and The Turin Horse (won Silver Bear Prize of the Berlinale in 2011).
The lecture will focus on the design criteria, the methodology of decision-makings concerning the visual design. One could get information about the dilemmas of a designer how to realize a story, a visual concept and the director's visions in a given urban structure. Designer Rajk will reveal the hidden dialog between the film director and the production designer.

Diana Groo
Regina - Film Talk
Regina Jonas, voiced in the film by Rachel Weisz, was the first female Rabbi. The daughter of an Orthodox Jewish peddler, Jonas was ordained in Berlin in 1935, but not without a fight. During the rise of the Nazi era, her sermons soothed and encouraged persecuted Jews.  She perished in Auschwitz in 1944. Director Diana Groo employs a jazzy archival style reminiscent of Péter Forgács, and gives voice to Regina's life.  Groó, born in 1973 in Budapest, is a feature and documentary film director. She received her education in Budapest, obtaining a BA in French-Hebrew from the Faculty of Arts, ELTE, followed by an MA in TV and Film Directing at the Hungarian Film Academy.  She co-founded DocClub and Madzag Film associations, and Katapult Film. Since 2001, she has been director and scriptwriter at the Cinema Film and Katapult Film studios. Groo's lecture will include film clips from the movie. (Hungary 2013).
