Greetings, DC Net Impacters!

Good news! We've been selected as one of three finalists for 2011-2012 Net Impact Professional Chapter of the Year for the second year in a row. Please join us for the panel session where  the winners will be announced at the annual conference in Baltimore October 25-27.

Also, there are plenty of opportunities available to be more involved with DCNI at many levels ranging from event staffing (set-up, registration, etc.) to board chair positions. If you are interested in getting more involved with DCNI at any level, please send an email to Yuniya at volunteers@dcnetimpact.org. Please be sure to include your volunteer area of interest, and any skills you deem relevant.

DC Net Impact (DCNI) Panel: Green Real Estate Options in the DC Metro Area
Date: Thursday, August 30
Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Join DC Net Impact for a panel discussion about sustainable real estate options in the DC metro area, whether you're a renter, first-time homebuyer or looking to upgrade your current home. We'll be joined by DC and Maryland property managers who have retrofitted their properties to save energy, contracted for on-site solar power and worked with their tenants to reduce waste and make their communities more sustainable. We'll also have real estate and energy efficiency experts on hand to discuss what features renters should ask for, and what retrofit options and incentives are available for home buyers and owners.

Legislators proposed and reviewed a lot of green bills in this year's General Assembly, despite law maker's focus on budget issues. Some significant legislation passed, while other initiatives did not. The result? The legislature has created sustainable business opportunities that you and your business can take advantage of. The University of the District of Columbia's Center for Sustainable Development's dasHAUS is now on display at UDC from July 31 to August 9, 2012. DasHAUS is a traveling pavilion, a North American tour and an ongoing international dialogue about advanced technologies for home construction and solar energy use. Its purpose is to share German innovations that have achieved sustainable construction and operational energy savings. Attendees will represent leading organizations, universities, and businesses in building materials, architecture, engineering, renewable energy and energy efficiency.
