This position will be filled at the Information Technology Specialist I level - grade 20.
This position performs entry level professional information technology systems work. Contacts include other information technology specialists, technicians, agency technology end users at all levels, vendors, and individuals outside the government. The work of this position involves system administration and troubleshooting for all Legislative Branch offices. This includes server management; identifying and solving hardware and software problems; providing technical assistance to staff; and overseeing installation of new computers and technology. The work of this position also involves duties such as designing and developing databases and troubleshooting database problems; preparing test data and test programs; evaluating, implementing, and enforcing system security protocols; providing support for web-based applications, web sites, and eGovernment functions; and performing network design, operation, and maintenance tasks and troubleshooting network faults using mapping and discovery tools. The work requires expertise in web-based applications and hardware and emerging technology applications. This position requires strong customer service and communication skills as well as the ability to work independently and be self-motivated. In addition, the selected candidate must have the ability to prioritize work assignments as well be able to balance the demanding needs of staff. | ||

Minimum Qualifications | ||
Minimum Qualification - Education Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university, or certifications in specific programming languages or operating systems may be required, depending on the duties of the position. Minimum Qualification - Experience/Licensure/Certification Experience: One year of experience in the information technology field in the area of managing server security protocols. Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. For applicants possessing very hard-to-find skills which are a critical need to the department/agency, training and certification may be accepted in lieu of full degree requirements. | ||
Preferred Criteria | ||

1) Experience with server management, solving hardware and software problems, and providing technical support. 2) Experience with audio/video storage and streaming and associated Windows multi-media file formats, media players, and protocols. 3) Experience with constituent relationship management; and 4) Experience with social networking and web 2.0.
All applicants will be reviewed by OHR to determine whether or not they meet minimum qualifications for the position. All applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be reviewed and rated by subject matter experts based on the Preferred Criteria. Based on the results of Preferred Criteria evaluation, applicants will be rated and placed on the Eligible List as either "Qualified" or "Well Qualified": The highest rated applicants will be placed on the Eligible List and may be considered for interview. Employees meeting minimum qualifications who are same grade or higher will be placed on Eligible List as a "Transfer" candidate and may be considered for interview. Note: In the event there are 5 or less minimally qualified candidates, all will be placed on the Eligible List as Qualified and will be interviewed.
