If you have experience with organizing & fundraising data, non-profit workflows, and spend time thinking about how to maximize resources – this job might be for you.

The Director of Data Services wears many hats – including logistics manager, overseer of team operations, resource analyst, process creator, and copy editor. You will lead a team of data practitioners through large scale database migrations and data development projects while providing strategic guidance to Executive level team members. 


You should be someone who:

  • Advocates for good data management
  • Enjoys collaborating with others on an array of subject matter, both technical and non-technical in nature
  • Understands the value of documentation, both technical and process
  • Has an eye for process and effective resource allocation
  • Is a strong communicator, both verbally and written
  • Takes a data-driven approach to problem solving
  • An intimate understanding of relational databases and data management best practices
  • Is self-motivated to "do good" and identifies with the company mission

Your skills and experience might include:

  • At least three (3) cycles or 6 years of data practitioner experience
  • Extensive knowledge of how political campaigns (across verticals like organizing, fundraising, analytics, and digital) and non-profit organizations use and interact with data
  • At least two (2) years managing a team
  • Experience with budgets, sales pricing structures, and/or market-driven organizations

Salary Range:

$80,000-$120,000

(Career Progress) JOB: Senior Designer / design firm / campaign work (June – Nov.)

A Bethesda, MD design firm that has been producing great work for national audiences for two decades, is looking to engage a Senior Designer in a temporary, on-site assignment that will begin in June and continue through mid-November. 
 
Our client is interested in identifying an experienced designer who has a great work ethic and is interested in contributing well-honed concepting, design and production skills to create a broad variety of products. The hiring organization currently supports these industries/verticals: entertainment (west coast TV and film studios), politics (Democrat and progressive campaigns), the non-profit sector.
 
Throughout 2018 the hiring organization will commit significant resources to the design and production of materials to support political campaigns. As we review applications for this position, we will be looking closely to determine candidates' strengths relative to the specific design, production and temperament demands of election-cycle design work. That said, we are interested in receiving applications from all talented designers who are interested in the eight-month, full-time commitment -- not just individuals who have previous experience working on political campaigns.
 
The employer has indicated there may be an opportunity for the person in this position to work from home one day each week.

This position also supports the Center for Community Change Action (CCCA), an affiliated 501(c)(4) advocacy organization. While motivated by the same core values – equity, inclusion, and justice – CCC and CCCA operate independently of one another and each organization has its own board of directors.

Position Description:

The Center for Community Change is seeking an experienced and detail oriented Electoral Data Manager to be part of our multiple campaigns. The Data Manager will be responsible for day-to-day management of data and analytics for electoral and organizing programs in coordination with staff in multiple states. Specifically, this role will own maintenance of targets across channels of program (including field, digital and mail), manage reporting on joint program, ensure data pipelines enhance collaboration and accountability, and partner with program staff to develop and measure against quantitative program goals. The role will work in consultation with the organizational data teams and is managed by the National Political Director. The position requires strong data management and communication skills. A successful candidate will not only understand the structure and management of data but should also be someone highly committed to training and developing staff inside and outside our organization.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Targeting and Data
    • Develop and maintain individual voter targeting and assist with paid media targeting for all partner organizations.
    • Work with field leadership to break overall regional goals down into smaller goals, develop timelines and work plans, and produce reports to tell the story of our team's progress
    • Work with program vendors to effectively import and integrate their data into our data systems.
    • Develop relationships with voter file, data, and technology vendors
    • Supervise and monitor VAN usage to ensure data integrity and security
  • Systems Integration and Standards
    • Ensure complex data management systems across state-based partners run smoothly
    • Establish data standards for creating and tracking program metrics in VAN and other data systems.
    • Build, deploy, and maintain centralize data gathered in the course of partner granted program across three states, utilizing Civis Platform and other tools.
  • Strategic Guidance and Daily Reporting 
    • Working with the National Political Director and national staff at each partner group, provide guidance and support to state staff to implement best practices in field data and support for targeting and outreach.
    • Build and maintain reporting on voter contact and organizing, utilizing pipelines from partner organizations' in-house data systems.
    • Oversees dataflow and vendor relations necessary to providing for and improving upon reporting systems around online and offline organizing.
  • Testing & Experiments
    • Supporting the management of data implementation for testing programs.
    • Develop and Manage the experiment designs as needed
    • Analyze post-election results to determine program effectiveness
  • Skill Development and Training
    • Conduct trainings, as needed, with national partner groups and staff
    • Support partners and CCCA staff with all VAN tools
    • Troubleshoot day-to-day VAN issues for CCCA field staff and partners
    • Represent CCCA with political players, community leaders, allied organizations and coalitions.

Qualifications:

  • At least three cycles of experience in holding primary management of and responsibility for statewide or national-regional candidate or issue campaign data & analytics.
  • Proficiency in administering VAN across multiple states.
  • Proficiency in managing campaign data using SQL, Access, Excel and Google Docs.
  • At least one cycle of experience in automating data pipelines.
  • At least one cycle of experience using Civis Platform is preferred.
  • At least one cycle of experience in managing campaign data in a partner- or client-facing environment is strongly preferred.

This person reports to: National Political Director

The Center for Community Change recognizes a staff bargaining unit affiliated with IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is included in the CCC bargaining unit and covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

Salary and benefits: CCC offers competitive salaries. CCC also offers an excellent benefits package, which includes 4 weeks of annual paid vacation; additional paid holiday leave between December 24 and January 1; 8% employer contribution to retirement account after six months of employment (and 3% employer contribution for the first 6 months); and a choice of generous health insurance plans.

This position is located in Washington, DC.

The expected end date for this position is June 28, 2019.

Position Description:

The Center for Community Change is looking for a summer intern on our Communications Team. The intern will be focused on learning from and providing general media relations support, including building press lists, keeping up with influencers, and assisting with press outreach for events. We are looking for a student or part time professional with a passion for social justice, community organizing and multimedia storytelling. This is an opportunity to join a creative team of celebrated community leaders, steeped policy gurus, savvy media geeks and nimble tech wizards.

Key Responsibilities (with training and direction from Communications Team staff):

  • Strategize audience development and engagement plans across social media platforms.
  • Assist with press outreach, including call downs and pitches; track coverage for events in D.C. and in the field.
  • Create compelling content about issue campaigns or events, such as op-eds, photo galleries or video stories.
  • Build and/or maintain existing press lists.
  • Research and maintain influencer outreach database; strategize outreach pitches.
  • General research and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants should have Media Studies/Journalism/Communications/Marketing/Film experience, preferably enrolled in a college or university program.
  • Passion for social justice issues and community organizing.
  • Commitment to the collaborative processes of production.
  • Strong communications and organizational skills.

This position reports to: Senior Media Specialist

These internships are for the summer of 2018.  Scheduling is flexible and determined based upon the intern's availability and course/exam schedule. A transportation stipend of $1500 for the entire internship is provided to offset commuting costs. The internship can be used for academic credit in accordance with a curriculum specified by an institution of higher education.

 This position is located in Washington, D.C.
