Several Short Films Seeking Actors
Charm City Filmmakers is casting for nineteen short films written and directed by its members. Each film shoot will be in the Baltimore area. Actors will be compensated with credits, copy, and craft.
We will be breaking the films into three groups. We will be holding In-Person Auditions on the weekend of March 14th/15th for the third group. You can audition for as many roles as you would like. AS I AM
A meet cute moment between Simi and Nyomi turns intimate on their first date when attention meets intention.
Simi (Primary) Nonbinary, late 20s/early 30s, Black. A shy but deeply introspective writer who loves routine and predictably but has a mysterious aura to them.
Nyomi (Primary) Female, late 20s/early 30s, Black. The confident and curious femme with a heart of gold.
Syd (Supporting) Female, 20s, BIPOC. Extroverted, spontaneous friend who is extremely supportive of their friend, Nyomi.
BUT I DON'T WANNA
A lighthearted piece set at a coffee shop that explores asexuality.
Casey (Primary) Any gender, 20's or 30's. A coffee shop worker who is asexual, but hesitant to be open about it.
Rory (Primary) Male, 20's or 30's. A coffee shop worker who has been friends with Casey since college. Rory keeps trying to get Casey laid, but Casey doesn't like that.
Riley (Supporting) Female, Any age. A customer at the coffee shop. Has a small professional interaction with Casey, with Rory inquiring afterwards why Casey didn't hit on her.
Andro (Supporting) Non-binary, 20's or 30's. A coffee shop customer who strikes a conversation with Casey, who somehow is comfortable enough to come out as asexual in front of Rory. They are also very into vocaloids.
CHAMELEON
A girl's journey to search and find her identity through her interactions with her friends. The story takes place a lot via social media and texts—the virtual connection that shows the quality of their (virtual) relationship..
Em (Primary) Female, 16 to 23. A geeky and nerdy girl who wants to have friends, but very insecure about who she is. She is afraid of being who she is.
Leon (Supporting) Male, 16 to 23. A boy who likes Mel. He wants to have fun with her. He is friendly to everyone and a good chatter.
Mel (Supporting) Female, 16 to 23. She has a look that makes her very popular among boys. She is an extrovert who loves going to parties and hangouts. She loves having fun. She loves to show her life off on social media like an influencer.
Camile (Supporting) Female,16 to 23. An artsy girl who is into fashion, makeup, accessories and nails.
Cam (Supporting) Male, 16+ to 23. An outgoing and delinquent boy who sells drugs to his peers.
I DON'T CARE, I LIKE HER
The nerdiest boy in school has a crush on the most popular girl in school, and even though nobody would believe it, she actually might like him back?
Simon (Lead), Male, 16 (preference to cast 18+), Black Biracial/Mixed - A hopeless romantic, gamer nerd who has a crush on the prettiest girl in school.
Youngboy (Supporting), Male, 19, Black - The scammer, older, no-good boyfriend of Kimora who has repeated senior year at least twice.
Mary-Ellen (Supporting), Female, 40s, White - The problematic, alcoholic mother of Simon. (Includes a full-clothed, semi-intimate scene).
Librarian (Day Player), Any Gender, 35+, Asian - A snarky librarian.
Jessica (Lead), Female, 16 (preference to cast 18+), Black - The creative, eccentric, spiritual and boisterous best friend of Kimora. Note: Think Nebula from Zenon.
Henry (Lead), Male, 16 (preference to cast 18+), Black - The funny, confident but also nerdy best friend of Simon.
Kimora (Lead), Female, 16 (preference to cast 18+), Black - A smart, bougie, baddie. The type of girl that is simply unattainable. Note: Think Blair Waldorf but nice.
SHADOWBOXER
A retired boxing champion is practicing in his old gym and everything seems normal until he sees friends and foes from his youth .
Frank (Primary) Male, 50s. A retired champion who often tries to reconcile with how he got to the top during his prime. With age he has grown more tired and filled with more regrets.
Roberto (Primary) Male, Latino, 20s. A young heart throb of a boxer who alongside Frank was on his way to become champion until a car accident took his life.
Sammy (Primary) Male, 20s. A hyper competitive boxer with a no nonsense and snarky attitude. Took his own life after Frank injured him so bad he was unable to fight.
Wyatt (Primary) Male, 20s. A spunky and carefree boxer who had pride in how fast he was in the ring. He was one time Frank's sparring partner and later died from getting involved with the wrong crowd.
Holly (Supporting) Female, 30s. The wife of Frank McCloud who in spite of loving him has many regrets about their marriage. Died alongside her daughter in a house fire.
Alexis (Supporting) Female, 8 to 12. The only daughter of Frank and Holly McCloud who had a lot of love for her father in spite of never seeing him. Always tries to have a bright attitude.
Referee (Supporting) Male, 30s to 40s. The referee to Frank and Roberto's match.
TRAPPED TO TRUTH
What begins as an ordinary ride-share trip becomes a nightmare when a man is forced to face his behavior toward women.
Zack (Primary) Male, 20's to 30's, African American. A young man who has no trouble attracting women, yet lacks respect for them.
Lisa (Primary) Female, 50's to 60's, African American. An assistant psychologist determined to get patients to open up by any means necessary.
Trina (Supporting) Female, 20's to 30's. A backstabbing woman intent on seducing her friend's fiancé.
