Hello Artists,
The DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities is currently running an emergency preparedness survey for artists. Please see below, take a moment to answer, and please share.

Hello Folks,

CAH is running a survey on Emergency Preparedness Management to access how prepared or not;  individual artists or arts organizations are for disaster.  It's important to capture data from individual artists and small arts organizations.

Because while there are resources to recover from disasters, being prepared is crucial for recovery and if someone doesn't know where to start, they can miss crucial funding opportunities. See the link to the survey here, CAH Emergency Management Survey

Please send this survey to the artists, dancers, musicians, curators, writers, and arts organizations in your circle that may not be on CAH's email lists.

The survey will be used to inform emergency planning organizations about artist's needs locally.

Typically,

•                                 Artists often remain uninsured for business-related losses.

•                                 There's still a commonly held misconception that homeowner's insurance covers art-related losses; and

•                                 Respondents do not have sufficient cash reserves to meet one month of household expenses in the event of an emergency.

Additionally,

•                                 The arts sector is vulnerable to disasters because artwork can be irreplaceable, materials can be fragile, and performing arts organizations can lose revenue.

•                                 Federal and state emergency management agencies need resources and data about arts and culture organizations to best contact and work with them in times of disaster, particularly to connect them to assistance opportunities before deadlines are passed.

Thanks,
