Smithsonian's Discovery Theater will be auditioning artists for its 2022-2023 Season, including Seasons of Light, How Old is a Hero?, and Once Upon a Moon (See descriptions below).
Multi-cultural and artists of color are encouraged to apply. Skills in music, puppetry, movement, interest in young people and education a plus. Most rehearsals and performances take place Mon-Fri., daytimes. All training, rehearsals, and performances PAID.
Auditions will be held at Discovery Theater (Smithsonian, National Mall, Washington DC) on Monday, October 3rd and Tuesday, October 4th from 10:30am-4:00pm. For consideration, please send your headshot, resume, and preferred date/time to: GameS@si.edu. Non-equity preferred; artists 18+ only.

An interactive celebration of world holidays including Ramadan, Devali, Las Posadas, and others.
Cast of 4: Mixed Ethnicities. Under 30 preferred.
How Old is a Hero
(Rehearsals: January 2023 Performances/Tour: February 2023)
Segregation, activism and civil rights history are brought to life through the lives of Ernest Green (of the Little Rock Nine), Claudette Colvin (of the Montgomery Bus Boycott), and little Ruby Bridges.
Cast of 3: African-American actors to portray Earnest Green, Claudette Colvin, and Ruby Bridges. Experience teaching or performing for young audiences preferred, but not required.
Once Upon a Moon
(Rehearsals: March/April 2023; Performances/Tour: April 2023)
In this enchanting new show for our youngest audiences, performers and puppets spin new and old stories about the moon's magic, introducing the magical science that brought rockets to its surface.
Cast of 2: Puppetry & Experience teaching or performing for young audiences preferred, but not required.
