(Career Progress) HIRING: Coordinator, My School Votes

Civic Nation seeks a Coordinator to support the My School Votes (MSV) team, and our growing MSV community of students and educators from across the country. This candidate will play an integral role on our growing team and program by performing a host of duties related to developing and delivering trainings, supporting our student network, managing data management systems, and content creation. The MSV coordinator reports to the Senior Director of My School Votes and works closely with the Director of Educator Engagement and the Director of Student Engagement.

This is a remote, short-term position that will end in December 2022.

My School Votes is When We All Vote's (WWAV) a transformative civic learning, skill-building, and lifelong empowerment program where high school/K-12 students learn by doing. MSV takes a hands-on approach to civic education and offers students opportunities to apply civic lessons to real world scenarios. We bring civics to life and prepare students to advocate and lead, engaging educators, parents, and members of the whole school community in the process. Each My School Votes training connects to meaningful action, and each  meaningful action connects to the mission of WWAV.

 YOUR IMPACT

  • Support and grow the network of MSV Clubs in high schools in key states
  • Support the development and implementation of the Civics 101 training program including drafting and delivering presentations, drafting regular and follow-up correspondence, and managing network data-bases 
  • Support the Director of Student Engagement in building the infrastructure and managing day-to-day operations of the Student Ambassador program
  • Manage MSV member network data-bases
  • Create a database and track all news article mentions, stories, photos, videos, and social media
  • Track and provide weekly updates on all local news related to our partner schools and districts
  • Work to meet key goals related to club formation, voter registrations, the success of civic activation events, and the student experience
  • Support MSV team members as needed based on priorities

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • 1+  years of experience as an educator, organizer, or in a capacity that works with high school students
  • Experience working with diverse communities and individuals
  • Track record of excellent results, innovation, and adaptability 
  • Building and managing communities through virtual mediums

YOUR COMPETENCIES

  • Self-management, discipline, and motivation to work in a movement space
  • Excellent people skills, communication, and critical thinking
  • A strong commitment to When We All Vote's mission and willingness to uplift others
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems independently, effectively and creatively
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects while also consistently meeting goals
  • Ability to write clearly, speak persuasively, and build strong relationships
  • Ability to tell a persuasive story and build community with young people
  • Flexible and open in responding to changing work priorities
  • Ready to bring out compassion, creativity, and critical thinking in student leaders
  • Comfortable working independently and in a team environment
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus

SALARY & BENEFITS

The Washington, DC-based salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 (will be adjusted for cost of labor for the incumbent's work location) annually, commensurate with experience. MANDATORY COVID-19 VACCINATION POLICY

Civic Nation is committed to protecting our employees and our communities from COVID-19. Toward that goal, and in consideration of guidance released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and a variety of public health authorities and professional organizations, Civic Nation has implemented a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for its employees.

All employees are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 as a term and condition of employment at Civic Nation unless an exemption or deferral has been approved. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after they get their second dose of a messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine, such as Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna, or two weeks after a single dose of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

New employees must be fully vaccinated before their start date unless an exemption due to a medical condition or a sincerely held religious belief or practice is granted.
