(Career Progress) New Opening: Database Manager, New Organizing Strategies_ Community Change

Community Change builds the power and capacity of low-income people, especially low-income people of color, to lead powerful and dynamic movements for social change. With our community-based partner groups, we bridge the grassroots and the national, supporting outsider strategies to disrupt the status quo while also building pathways to influence the insider conversation. 

Our vision of a better world centers the leadership of impacted people of color to move our work on immigrant rights, economic justice, and racial equity, including a focus on jobs and housing, early childhood care and education, income support, and immigration reform.

This position also supports Community Change Action, an affiliated 501(c)(4) advocacy organization. While motivated by the same core values – equity, inclusion, and justice – Community Change and Community Change Action operate independently of one another and each organization has its own board of directors.

Position Description: 

The Database Manager will be embedded in our New Organizing Strategies work, a cross-team, multi-issue effort to advance our online-to-offline organizing and issues advocacy campaigning work. Through our various campaigns, we reach and engage thousands of child care providers, parents, immigrants, and directly impacted people of color, specifically women of color, through online acquisition strategies, email, social media, text, and phone in a pathway that moves them into action.

We are looking for a results-driven, highly organized, and process-oriented person with a successful track record in CRM management in issue based work.

This is a one-year flex position.

Principal Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as the primary system administrator for EveryAction. 
  • Manage the successful internal launch and implementation of our transition to EveryAction. 
  • Manage all administrative functions including user maintenance, workflows, reports, and dashboards to assess organizing programs. 
  • Provide day to day user support and answer user questions, troubleshoot configuration defects and process gaps.
  • Develop guidelines, instructions, and trainings for field teams to provide ongoing support around data hygiene and best practices.
  • Support the management of civic engagement data work, including voter file, and implementation of new relational organizing tools.
  • Maintain clean lists and work with others on the organizing and digital teams on targeting and segmenting audiences.
  • Strengthen the culture of data and technology throughout the organization through strong user engagement, accurate data, analytics, and reporting.
  • Keep projects on track and communicate regularly with the team.
  • Additional duties as needed to support the growth of our online-to-offline organizing programs.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a digital or database management role.
  • Tech-savviness, including proficiency in CRM management, EveryAction strongly preferred as well as Salesforce and VAN.
  • Adept at queries and data analysis with minimal guidance.
  • Adept at writing reports and presenting findings to internal and external stakeholders, training and working with non-tech savvy users, and building and maintaining reports, dashboards, etc. 
  • A track record of analyzing numbers and translating them to make recommendations on programmatic outcomes, strategies, and tactics
  • Ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and outcomes/results-orientation.
  • Understanding of user environments: applications, training and adoption, and use of data.
  • Strong proficiency in Google Analytics and A/B testing is required.
  • Knowledge of SQL a plus.
  • Experience or familiarity with labor or community organizing a plus. 
  • Experience producing and implementing online content for non-profit advocacy organizations or national organizing campaigns using social media and email a plus. 
  • Ability to build and maintain strong, and effective working relationships throughout the organization.
  • Sets strategic priorities and effectively meets deadlines.
  • Strong commitment and passion to building the political power of low-income communities, particularly people of color.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Experience and comfort working in complex, multi-issue and multi-cultural environments.
  • Commitment to economic, race, and gender justice essential.

This position reports to: Director of New Organizing Strategies 

Classification: Community Change recognizes a staff bargaining unit affiliated with IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is included in Community Change's bargaining unit and covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

Travel Requirements: Due to COVID-19 and Community Change policy, there will be no travel through the end of 2021. Pending the lift of the travel restriction, this position would require minimal travel.

Salary & Benefits: $70,000 – $80,000 annual salary. Community Change also offers an excellent benefits package, which includes 4 weeks of annual paid vacation; additional paid holiday leave between December 24 and January 1; 8% employer contribution to retirement account after six months of employment (and 3% employer contribution for the first 6 months); and a choice of generous health insurance plans.
