Our vision of a better world centers the leadership of impacted people of color to move our work on immigrant rights, economic justice, and racial equity, including a focus on jobs and housing, early childhood care and education, income support, and immigration reform.

This position also supports Community Change Action, an affiliated 501(c)(4) advocacy organization. While motivated by the same core values – equity, inclusion, and justice – Community Change and Community Change Action operate independently of one another and each organization has its own board of directors.

Position Description:

The Project Manager is a high-level project management and administrative support position that closely collaborates with internal teams to contribute to the goals of the organization. 

The position will provide day-to-day executive-level project management support to the Economic Justice team, and coordinate and supplement the administrative support for the senior staff on the team including budget management, developing management systems, regranting, scheduling, and meeting planning. The Project Manager will work with a wide array of teams to advance organizational deliverables and coordination with external allies and funders, and have a lead role in paying attention to details needed to implement programs and promoting a professional, sustainable, organized, and collaborative atmosphere internally and with partner groups.

A portion of time will be spent working with Community Change's sister organization, Community Change Action.

This is a one-year flex position. 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Provide executive level project management support to the Economic Justice team to ensure the team runs smoothly and progress is constantly made to meet the team's commitments.
  • Coordinate internal and external communications regarding the team's initiatives between various key decision makers and stakeholders. 
  • Provide management to develop agendas and implement initiatives to advance the team's goals.
  • Inform the design and implementation of team meetings and conventions, and support events and short term projects as needed.
  • Provide guidance, and as needed assistance to administrative staff. 
  • Responsible for leading logistics planning, note taking, research, filing, copying, mailing, and material preparation needs of the team.
  • Represent Community Change in a professional manner with members and staff of Community Change partners, allies, and funders.
  • Work closely with the Director of Economic Justice and organizing staff to support grassroots partners, regional cohorts, and national coalitions to collaborate with on planning, strategizing, and follow-through.
  • Support the process of regranting, contract development and execution, and other relevant materials for field partner organizations and consultants. 
  • Refine processes and support the creation of team norms for clarity and alignment following organizational policies. 
  • Support operational management of the Essential Outcomes process (collating input and data, tracking deliverables, and managing the reporting system for the Economic Justice team.
  • Support various evaluation projects and serve as general liaison with external research and evaluation providers related to the team's priorities. 
  • Help with preparation and assembling/editing materials for board meetings and funder proposals and reports, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three to five years of project management or administrative experience working in a non-profit or similar environment. 
  • Experience developing systems and great attention to detail for program evaluation and deliverables tracking for quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Understanding and use of research to inform work.
  • Relational capacity; ability to work democratically and effectively with diverse groups and people.
  • Strong team player, familiar with team dynamics and willing to work in a team environment; experience and comfort working as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.
  • Strong commitment to race, gender justice and social change.
  • Knowledge of key issues that our organization currently works on, such as poverty, criminal justice reform, jobs, economic justice, immigration and/or other issues. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to produce consistent, quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work at a macro level, keeping in mind the broader vision, while also attending to operational details.
  • Thrives on complexity and challenges.  
  • Capacity and willingness to work long, flexible hours and to travel occasionally.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceive and execute creative, breakthrough initiatives to achieve goals.
  • Comfortable using cloud-based technology including Google Suite and dynamic databases like Salesforce.
  • Analytical and critical skills – capacity to extract key points from data and reports.
  • Prior experience in the progressive social justice field highly desired.

This person reports to: Director of Economic Justice.

Classification: Community Change recognizes a staff bargaining unit affiliated with IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is included in Community Change's bargaining unit and covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

Travel Requirements: At least 15% 

Salary & benefits: $60,000-$68,000 annual salary. Community Change also offers an excellent benefits package, which includes 4 weeks of annual paid vacation; additional paid holiday leave between December 24 and January 1; 8% employer contribution to retirement account after six months of employment (and 3% employer contribution for the first 6 months); and a choice of generous health insurance plans.
