GALVANIZE: WPA- Sign Up for Idea Day this Wednesday

Subject: Sign Up for Idea Day this Wednesday

Call to Artists: Sign up for Idea Day on Wednesday, December 11

We are now accepting 100-word project proposals from artists to organize one-night events that present the art or ideas of other artists for the 2020 and 2021 calendar years. These events can take the form of visiting artist lectures, workshops, discussions, performances, screenings, field trips, listening sessions, readings, and other imaginative engagements. We encourage artists from all backgrounds and disciplines to submit. Meet us in person to learn more about our idea submission process and/or to talk to us about ideas you have brewing.

Meetings take place on Wednesday, December 11 from 5-7:30pm

About our Program Model

WPA recognizes that artists are increasingly collaborating across boundaries and borders to build community and shape discourse. We are interested in facilitating these collaborations through our artist-driven program model. We define artist-driven as an institutional practice of making space for artists to pitch and organize collaborative experiments; providing artists with the opportunity to expand their practices without absorbing financial burdens or capacity barriers.

Call to Artists: Submit Work for Collectors' Night 2020

We are also inviting artwork submissions for our annual Auction Gala, now called "Collectors' Night." The event will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2020 in Washington, DC. The deadline for artwork submissions is January 3, 2020. All submissions will be reviewed by the WPA staff and selected artists will be invited to participate with between one and five artworks. We split sales proceeds 50-50 with artists and there is no fee to submit your work.
Please read the following eligibility & selection requirements carefully before submitting your work.

About Collectors' Night
Collectors' Night raises money for WPA's artist-driven exhibitions, programs, and projects. More than two hundred artworks are sold by silent auction to an audience of more than 500 DC-area art collectors, patrons, enthusiasts, and artists. Exhibiting artists are provided two complimentary tickets to attend the event, which include specialty cocktails, delicious food, dessert, and dancing.
