DATA SERVICES ENGINEER

As a Data Services Engineer (DSE) at Catalist, you will have a leading role in providing support and creating solutions for a wide array of Catalist clients and partners as well assisting or leading efforts to manage cross-departmental projects. The DSE supports the Client Services team by providing reports, data for visualizations, lists, and appends that the Catalist Q and M tools cannot readily provide.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with excellent technical skills, a strong desire to learn new skills, and an interest in progressive politics. This position reports to the Director of Data Services. While Data Services Engineers work closely with the Client Services, Analytics, and Tech teams, they are a part of the growing Data team that supports all underlying work at Catalist.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Acts as an advanced user of all internal and external Catalist tools, data, and products for the purpose of supporting client requests and internal projects as needed
  • Gains an understanding of client needs, political implications, and scope by interacting with the Client Services, Analytics, and Technology departments on a regular basis
  • Oversees all projects assigned from start to finish; successfully delivers reports, lists, and other material requests on time, accurately, and in a client-friendly format with actionable insights
  • Executes requests for new business development support from Marketing team
  • Escalates issues and concerns to the Director of Data Services as needed
  • Creates and maintains documentation to support all deliverables for future replication

Skills & Abilities:

  • Willingness to be a problem solver and produce results in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to focus on details and make productive suggestions on ways to streamline and improve processes
  • Ability to be creative and personable, and articulate ideas clearly
  • Excellent project management skills, including ability to handle multiple projects at once
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills quickly
  • Ability to become an internal subject matter expert on various datasets and support other Catalist departments/teams on usage of those datasets

Education & Experience:

  • Interest, familiarity or experience with SQL, Python or other relational database programming language
  • Experience in the following a plus: Terminal, R, or using a Unix command line interface
  • Experience with political campaigns or progressive organizations is preferred
  • Background check required

Salary:

This is a full-time job in Washington, DC. Compensation will range from $57,000-$63,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

YOUR IMPACT

Support the Director of People Operations with the execution of human resources administrative activities, including, but not limited to:

  • Posting internship and job opportunities on the organization's internal platform, Greenhouse, as well as on public job-boards

  • Preparing offer letters for new hires

  • Coordinating onboarding process for new hires

  • Verifying new hires eligibility for employment

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee data in the organization's HR platform, Justworks

  • Ensuring hourly employees submit timesheets in a timely manner and that timesheets are approved by supervisors prior to the deadline

  • Coordinating offboarding process for departing employees

  • Duties as assigned. 


YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Prior experience providing administrative support

  • Proficiency using Google Workspace and  Microsoft Office

  • Familiarity and comfort working in Slack, Zoom, and other online platforms and/or databases

COMPENSATION & EXPECTED HOURS

This is a  part-time, non-exempt position paid at the hourly rate of $15.20 per hour. The successful candidate is expected to work 10-15 hours per week.

(Career Progress) HIRING (Remote): Campaign Communications, Digital, and Fundraising Consultants

The National Democratic Training Committee (NDTC) is hiring 2 consultants who specialize in communications, 1 consultant who specializes in Digital, and 1 consultant who specializes in Fundraising for candidate campaigns. These consultants will be supporting curriculum development and training execution for NDTC's Staff Academy, which is a program designed to recruit, train, and connect new staff to paid career opportunities in Democratic politics across the country. When selecting program participants for Staff Academy, we prioritize leaders who are women, trans and non-binary, and people of color.

LCV is hiring a Vice President of Membership & Direct Response Fundraising who will design and direct the organization's efforts to significantly expand, engage, and diversify our base of grassroots funders and activists. The Vice President of Membership & Direct Response Fundraising is responsible for the planning, management, development and growth of the grassroots file and budget across all channels. The membership and direct response fundraising team will be growing in 2021 and 2022.

 

The ideal candidate is a creative, experienced marketer who is a skilled leader in both program and staff development and committed to centering racial justice and equity in our work. LCV staff are mission driven, motivated, and strive to lead with our values of accountability, anti-racism, community, innovation, learning, and sustainability.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of the strategies, structure, and operating systems to achieve short- and long-term direct response fundraising and advocacy program goals at LCV.
  • Design and consistently improve the member experience, ensuring strong donor acknowledgement, engagement, and recognition processes and activities that ultimately moves them into personal relationship-based development efforts.
  • Ensure that LCV's brand and overall marketing and communications strategy is used consistently and includes a racial justice and equity lens.
  • Develop a significantly more racially and generationally diverse membership base. Create a strategic and coordinated fundraising plan and schedule, centered on racial justice and equity, for both online and offline communications.
  • Collaborate across the fundraising team to ensure we are implementing strategies that move activists and grassroots donors up the fundraising ladder.
  • Through careful analytics and reporting, ensure the program maximizes revenue and return on investment.
  • Lead the growth marketing strategy and execution of a well-established, but constantly evolving monthly giving program, ensuring the program's budgetary goals are accurately established and met.
  • Build and develop a diverse, skilled team of staff and outside vendors to ensure timely and accurate campaign execution.
  • Work with LCV program, development and communications managers to develop, coordinate and lead the engagement of LCV members in advocacy.
  • Serve as the primary lead on the direct marketing program's budgeting process, monitoring program revenue and expenses, analyzing and interpreting program results to consistently innovate and improve performance.
  • Improve segmentation and messaging to create a personal and positive experience for donors and activists through email, informed by analytics (e.g., predictive modeling, social media data mining).
  • Support preparation of annual revenue and expense targets and manage spending to stay within budget.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Work Experience: Required - Minimum of ten years experience in direct marketing. Experience leading strategy and execution of a mid-large scale, multi-channel, direct response fundraising operation. Must have demonstrated supervisory experience successfully managing high performing teams. Experience leading overall strategy of a robust direct marking program as well as day to day implementation of managing a complex direct marketing program. Experience utilizing analytics, data segmentation and reporting to leverage and maximize growth including upgrades and lapsed strategies. Preferred - Issue advocacy and/or electoral campaign experience. Experience working with a national organization who has state affiliates or chapters.
  • Skills: Ability to lead on issues of racial justice and equity. Proven leadership skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, high-pressure and often fast paced environment- balancing input while reacting quickly and efficiently- demonstrated ability to work well with tight deadlines while handling multiple assignments. Track record utilizing innovative strategies to dramatically grow membership and maximize fundraising efforts. Proven management skills and ability to foster professional development of staff. Senior leadership track record of working across all program areas to develop, coordinate and help lead messaging, volunteer recruitment and engagement for the organization.  Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with different personalities and balance, sometimes competing, internal constituencies. Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives. Strong vendor management and negotiation including strong interpersonal relationships and communications.
  • Cultural Competence: Demonstrated awareness of one's own cultural identity, views about difference, and the ability to learn and build on varying cultural and community norms. Commitment to equity and inclusion as organizational practice and culture. Understands how environmental issues intersect with racism, economic and social inequality in the US and has a passion for working to dismantle these systems. Interest in electoral politics and understanding of how the electoral landscape affects policy advocacy.
  • Working Conditions: This job operates in a professional office environment, and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and audiovisual systems. This position is largely sedentary, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. The location of this position is flexible. Applicants need to be located in and legally authorized to work in the United States. Must be able to accommodate east coast hours (9 am - 6 pm ET) and travel for staff retreats, conferences and trainings as needed. (Career Progress) Technology Logistics Manager -- Remote -- Progressive Turnout Project

Position Summary:

Progressive Turnout Project (PTP) seeks applicants for the Technology Logistics Manager role for the 2022 election cycle who are passionate about supporting staff engaged in direct voter contact by managing technological resources and implementing processes that make our work possible. This position will be based out of our Chicago, IL headquarters, with remote options available, and travel will be on an as-needed basis to Field offices located in the Senate battleground states of Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

The Technology Logistics Manager is responsible for all aspects of managing and implementing the Field program's technological resources and digital processes across all 7 states' field offices. This will include working directly with state and district level staff on a daily basis, driving and monitoring distribution of technological resources, holding staff accountable to goals and timelines being met on the ground, and troubleshooting miscellaneous IT issues as they arise. The supervisory scope of this position includes the day-to-day management of 1 support staff member responsible for direct asset management, however, the Technology Logistics Manager will have vast responsibilities overseeing the overall logistics required for distribution, management, and implementation of technology resources to all Field staff, which will be up to 853 staff total across 7 states. 

The Technology Logistics Manager's sole focus will be on the technology side of this project.  This position does not include the strategic design of the Field program, which has already been completed by our Data department, or real time strategic decisions, which will be directly informed by data and decided on by executive leadership. The duties of this position are subject to modification in response to program or organizational needs. 

 From the initial date of hire through May 31, 2022 , the Technology Logistics Manager will work a Monday through Friday schedule. Beginning June 1, 2022 through November 30, 2022, the Technology Logistics Manager's schedule will transition to a Sunday through Thursday schedule in order to support our Field offices' direct voter contact work.  Hours outside of core working hours, including some Saturdays, may be required.  The Technology Logistics Manager will report directly to the Logistics Director.

This position is eligible for benefits, including employer-sponsored health, dental, and vision insurance, FSA, 401(k), student loan repayment assistance, public transportation stipend (for HQ-based staff), paid time off, and paid holidays.

Responsibilities:

·       Learn and apply our organizational values to foster a strong culture based on trust and mutual respect

·       Drive the implementation, management, and tracking of all technology supply deliverables on a mission-critical timeline, ensuring timely completion of tasks in line with program objectives

·       Responsible for overseeing all aspects of G-Suite account and App account creation, management, and implementation for all Field program staff

·       Drive the process for assessing the technological needs of all Field offices across the United States and provide guidance and/or resources based on evaluations

·       Lead the process for creating and implementing training guides and leading training sessions on technology assets, operating systems, and Cybersecurity policy compliance

·       Proactively identify, actively manage, and aggressively track all risks and issues that arise from the technology supply chain, utilizing multiple sources of data and stakeholders to resolve complex problems

·       Communicate daily with individual State Logistics Managers for the purpose of receiving status updates and providing guidance where needed, and communicate effectively with executive leadership

·       Understand, implement, and utilize systems for disseminating important information both within the Logistics department and out to district level staff

·       Travel as-needed to PTP Field offices throughout the United States for the purpose of gaining on-the-ground insight into supply needs and providing additional guidance

·       You have 2+ years of technology management experience or technology logistics and supply chain management experience that has advanced organizations' abilities to support staff

·       You have 1+ years of experience in supervising and managing staff

·       You have a proven record of managing successful technology programs or projects across multiple functions and locations

·       You are calm and collected in highly-pressurized situations when there is a need to resolve high priority issues, bringing stakeholders together, and working through the issues with grit and a solutions-oriented approach

·       You have strong data analysis and problem-solving skills, and are able to accurately generate, explain, and present detailed schedules, objectives reports, and other documentation

·       You have exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills that you have used to communicate to a diverse set of audiences

·       You're proficient in Google Suite products(Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets, Forms, PowerPoint, etc) and Apple technology and software products 

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):

·       You are fluent in Spanish

·       You have Field work or organizing experience

·       You are proficient in Microsoft office or VAN (especially list building, turf cutting, monitoring canvass results, and managing MiniVAN users)
