1.     Press and Communications Officer Wanted at the Embassy of Hungary

 

The Embassy of Hungary in Washington, D.C. seeks a preferably native English speaker Press and Communications Officer (Hungarian-English bilingual speaker applications also accepted) to join a fast-paced press shop working to implement the Embassy's media strategy including the promotion of our work among the media, policymakers and the general public. The Press and Communications Officer, who will work under the supervision of the Press and Communications Attaché, will also participate in the management of the Embassy's website and Social Media (Facebook, Twitter) platforms as well as in the organization and coordination of Embassy events. The position is for a fixed one year term with a probationary period of 90 days. The position comes with a competitive remuneration package and the possibility of extension.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities Include:

 

·       Draft press releases and other creative materials

·       Maintain the website of the Embassy

·       Under the guidance of the Press and Communications Officer, research and write speeches on behalf of the Ambassador and other senior Hungarian officials

·       Monitor multiple US and Hungarian media sources and regularly collect press materials for senior staff as well as write editorial responses when necessary

·       Under the guidance and supervision of the Press and Communications Officer create original content to be used for newsletters, website and social media

·       Proofread a variety of documents, including speeches, press releases, web content, presentations, letters, and other materials written by senior staff

·       Under the guidance and supervision of the Press and Communications Officer maintain the Embassy's press lists and arrange interviews and press coverage for the Ambassador and other Hungarian Foreign Ministry officials.

·       Under the guidance of the Press and Communications Officer assist in the organization of Embassy events and occasionally act as the Embassy's photographer. 

 

Qualifications:

 

·       Education: University degree in political science, communications, International Relations, or other relevant field.

·       Excellent writing skills in English (English and Hungarian an advantage), ability to proofread and edit documents.

·       Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with others in an international environment.

·       The ability to work with tight deadlines and manage time effectively.

·       Ability to work in a high stress, fast-paced environment and handle multiple assignments simultaneously.

·       Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

·       Experience with website and email campaign management.

·       Familiarity with working with the press, including reporters, producers and editors.

·       Familiarity with Hungarian politics, economy, culture and with current issues in Hungarian-American bilateral relations is an advantage but not required.

·       Some familiarity with graphic design (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) an advantage but not required.

·       Clean record, must be able to work legally in the U.S.

2.     Assistant to the Economic and Trade Attaché at Embassy of Hungary

 

The Embassy of Hungary in Washington, DC seeks a (preferably Hungarian-English bilingual) Assistant to the Economic and Trade Attaché. The recruited person will be working directly with the Economic and Trade Attaché, providing assistance in the daily tasks of the Economic and Trade Office. This is a full time position (40 hours per week) for a fixed one-year term with a probationary period of 90 days. The position comes with a competitive remuneration package and the possibility of extension.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities Include:

 

·       Liaise with the U.S. Federal Government and government agencies on the current and future policies and regulation on foreign trade, transportation, infrastructure, emerging technologies, etc.;

·       Liaise with the ministries and agencies of the Government of Hungary involved in Trade and Investment Promotion;

·       Assist in the organization of and/or participate in meetings with external stakeholders (NGOs, U.S. and Hungarian companies) on matters related to the Economic and Trade Office's portfolio;

·       Assist in the organization of trade and investment promotion events hosted by the Embassy;

·       Prepare meeting memos and reports;

·       Monitor media and compile reports on key developments of the U.S. and Hungarian economies;

·       Assist Hungarian companies wishing to export to/set foot in the United States through providing information on the regulatory background, finding potential partners for cooperation, etc.;

·       Assist US companies wishing to import from/invest in Hungary;

·       Conduct administrative tasks such as managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, maintaining calendars, filtering telephone calls, managing travel for the Economic and Trade Attaché; and organizing the programs of visiting delegations from Hungary.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • University degree in Economics, International Relations, Political science or other relevant field;
  • Excellent writing skills in English (Hungarian is an advantage), ability to proofread and edit documents;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with others in an international environment;

·       Accuracy, proactivity, creative problem solving skills;

·       The ability to work with tight deadlines and manage time effectively;

  • Ability to work in a high stress, fast-paced environment and handle multiple assignments simultaneously;
