Overview:

Founded in 1998, DC Vote is a national citizen engagement and advocacy organization

dedicated to strengthening democracy and securing equality for all in the District of

Columbia.

We're building power by engaging people. As the recognized leader in the DC voting

rights movement, DC Vote is leading the pathway to equality by working to secure local

budget control, eliminate oversight of DC's local laws, and ultimately full democratic

equality in the US House of Representatives and the US Senate.  Representation in

Congress is a civil and human right. The exclusion of nearly 660,000 American citizens

is simply un-American.

Job Description:

Organizing and activating citizen participation through public education, constituent letter

writing campaigns, and fundraising. Opportunities exist for both expert campaigners and

those looking to gain experience in politics.

Develop grassroots support for full representation in Washington DC:

 Obtain equal congressional voting rights to the citizen's of Washington DC

 End mandatory congressional approval for local budgets and laws

 Protect local laws that DC residents have passed from being overturned by

Congress

 Fight resolutions introduced from out of state representatives that would roll back

our laws that end work place discrimination, decriminalize cannabis and laws for

gun safety.

 Stop referendums that give congress the ability to overturn decisions made by

Washington DC residents

Qualifications:

 Commitment to social, economic and human rights issues.

 Effective communication skills and the ability to relate to the public on a one to

one level.

 Commitment to working with diverse segments of the community.

 Fundraising experience a plus; passion a must

 Flexibility and a sense of humor

Compensation:

  $12-$15 per hour depending on qualifications; plus fundraising bonuses.

 Health, dental, and vision with full time employment.  Paid vacation, holidays and

sick leave.

 Significant advancement opportunities for career-minded individuals.

  Excellent training on issues and skills.

 Great Management training program.

 Opportunities for travel and relocation.
