| The Festival was founded in 2004 by Nancy Roldán with the cooperation of Ernest Ragogini and other music professionals. Some of them are currently on the board of directors. Inaugurated in 2005, and held biennially, the event includes competitions for solo piano and duo collaborative artists. Notre Dame of Maryland University has hosted the event since 2006 to the present.
The Liszt-Garrison Festival and International Piano Competition 2011 celebrated the bicentennial birth of Franz Liszt and the Fifth Anniversary of the event via a five-day commemoration featuring performances, lectures, and recitals showcasing the expertise and artistry of world-renowned musicians. Two world premieres for solo piano enhanced the festivity: Angelus by Jorge VIllavicencio Grossmann, and Calle veneziana by Kye Ryung Park.
The Liszt-Garrison Festival and International Piano Competition, under the aegis of the Baltimore Washington Chapter of the American Liszt Society, depends upon the financial support and presence of music lovers to continue its mission of reinforcing good will among musicians, bringing music to the community at large, and assisting artists in furthering their career goals. Notre Dame of Maryland University has hosted the event since 2006. |
