Born in Szombathely,Hungary, Fanny Nemeth-Weiss started the cello at nine years old and studied in Zagreb (Croatia), Graz (Austria),Zurich and Basel (Switzerland)where she studied with Ivan Monighetti.She was accepted at the Manhattan School of Music New York in 2005 where she earned her bachelor of Music Degree in 2009.Her teachers included Marta Casals Istomin, David Geber and Julia Lichten. Her Master's of Music Degree in 2012 at the Catholic University of America Washington DC. Fanny is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts Degree at the Catholic University of America Washington DC, where she is the student of Michael Mermagen. She made her Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall New York debut in 2008. She played recitals and chamber concerts in France, Germany and USA in 2009 and 2010. She has performed in Hungary, Croatia, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Slovenia, Spain, and the USA.
Ms. Nemeth-Weiss received a scholarship to attend the summer and chamber music programs of Itzhak and Toby Perlman and played in the Perlman Music Program's Tenth Anniversary Benefit Concert at Carnegie Hall. She received fellowship to attend the famous Aspen Music Festival in Aspen, Colorado in 2011, participated with full scholarship the Summer Music Festival of the Music Academy of the West, in Santa Barbara, California.
Fanny attended also prestigious European Festivals as the Kronberg Academy, Germany, Summer Festivals in Hvar and Zadar, Croatia. She received scholarships and fellowships from the Catholic University of America USA, The Hungarian-American Enterprise Scholarship Fund Budapest, Hungary and Manhattan School of Music New York.
She has taken part in master classes led by Bernard Greenhouse, Bonnie Hampton, Eleonore Schoenfeld, Natalia Shahovskaya, Steven Doane,Ron Leonard, Darrett Adkins, Eric Kim, Allen Harris and chamber music masterclasses by Itzhak Perlman, Robert Mann, Nicholas Mann, Zvi Zeitlin, Jerome Lowenthal, Donald Weilerstein, Paul Katz, Peter Salaff, Donald McInnes, Laurence Dutton, Takacs Quartet, American Strings Quartet and Cavani Quartet.
She has collaborated on chamber music with Adele Anthony, Paul Kantor, Nancy Allen, Masao Kawasaki, Nadin Asin, Inna Faliks, Catharine Carroll, Virginia Weckstrom, John Zirbel, Bill Jackson, Joaquin Valdepenas...
Ms.Nemeth-Weiss has been a teaching assistant from Fall 2012 at the Catholic University of America, Washington DC.
Fanny is also an active chamber music player and dedicated to perform contemporary repertoire and rare played or forgotten pieces of the cello repertoire as well.
