LCV is hiring a Controller who will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the LCV family of organizations including LCV, LCV Action Fund, LCV Victory Fund, and LCV Education Fund. In addition to developing and maintaining effective internal controls, ensuring efficient operations and assisting in the organizations’ compliance with relevant tax and campaign finance laws and regulations, the Controller will also lead preparation for the annual audit, filing of the IRS Form 990s and coordinating the annual budgeting process.

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the LCV family of organizations including LCV, LCV Action Fund, LCV Victory Fund, and LCV Education Fund. In addition to developing and maintaining effective internal controls, ensuring efficient operations and assisting in the organizations’ compliance with relevant tax and campaign finance laws and regulations, the Controller will also lead preparation for the annual audit, filing of the IRS Form 990s and coordinating the annual budgeting process. The Controller will supervise the Assistant Controller, two accounting staff, and oversee external financial consultants.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage the organization’s financial policies and accounting practices.
  • Oversee monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts including bank statements.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for department SVP’s and designated staff.
  • Facilitate and prepare schedules for annual audit and preparation of IRS Form 990’s.
  • In collaboration with the cross-departmental compliance team and external compliance vendor, assist with compliance processes for the finance department to maintain accuracy and completeness of revenue and disbursements reported.
  • Post cash disbursements and receipts.
  • Prepare annual budget.
  • Prepare financial reports for proposals and reports to grantor foundations.
  • Review payroll and serve as back-up to payroll processor when necessary.
  • Administer the travel expense process using Concur software.
  • Handle correspondence concerning aged accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, credit card administration, and other financial transactions.
  • Lead efforts to create a departmental and organizational culture that is inclusive, respectful, and equitable.
  • Ensure that hiring, employee development and performance management practices are consistent with racial justice and equity goals and philosophy.
  • Develop and track progress on department’s racial justice and equity goals, including the vendor survey, and updating the finance manual.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Work Experience:
    • Required - Bachelor’s degree in accounting/economics. At least 10 years accounting work experience. At least 5 years experience supervising staff. Experience with foundation grants and restricted project fund accounting.  Must have experience working with 501(c)(4) and/or 501(c)(3) organizations. Experience filing IRS Form 990. Experience managing relationships with outside vendors. Experience preparing budgets. Experience preparing for annual audit. Familiarity with all aspects of accounting, including GAAP.
    • Preferred - Public accounting experience and CPA/MBA. Experience with FEC compliance reporting. Experience with bequests and planned giving.
  • Skills:
    • Required - Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Able to manage multiple-tasks at once and work across departments to achieve shared goals; thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Must have expertise in Excel and accounting software. Detail-oriented and able to produce organized and accurate materials quickly. Ability to create and explain financial reports to non-finance staff and work with field offices and state affiliates. Proven ability to maintain confidential information. Ability to perform monthly bank reconciliations. Demonstrated ability managing a team of staff.
    • Preferred - Abila MIP accounting software package experience. Ability to work with Concur or other expense tracking software.
  • Cultural Competence: Demonstrated awareness of one’s own cultural identity, views about difference, and the ability to learn and lead on varying cultural and community norms. Commitment to equity and inclusion as organizational practice and culture. Understands how environmental issues intersect with racism, economic and social inequality in the U.S. and has a passion for working to dismantle these systems.
  • Conditions: Able to work hours exceeding stated office hours to get the job done. This position is based in Washington, DC.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Color Of Change seeks a Database Manager in Oakland that will be charged with building a new best-in-class database infrastructure developing internal protocols and ensuring the highest level of team fidelity. The right candidate will be committed to getting results in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle competing priorities. The Sr. Development Database Manager will begin the role by assessing the organization's current tools within the first 30- days. You will be asked and be charged with developing more effective policies and procedures within the first 90 days. This role will oversee all database/CRM maintenance, data analysis, reporting, cleaning, and requests for information across COC's three organizational entities: 501c(3), 501c(4), and PAC.

This position reports directly to the Sr. Director of Development and will work closely with the Director of Individual Giving and Director of Institutional Partnerships to support the team's infrastructure. In addition, this role has one full-time direct report: Development Coordinator.


COMPENSATION

The salary for the Database Manager is $72,000. Color of Change offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including generous vacation and holiday schedules and medical, dental and disability insurance.

[Unicum] The Kossuth Foundation Hungarian Language Classes resume

Hi,

If you or a family member would be interested in practicing/learning Hungarian, please spread the word about our courses.
Most classes are held at the Kossuth House. (2001 Massachusetts Ave, NW Washington, DC 20036)
The classes start at 6.30 pm (weekdays) or 9.00 am. (Saturday).


Besides many cultural and educational programs, the Kossuth Foundation supports and highly recommends the ReConnect Hungary Programs.
The application for the Birthright Trip is still open until  January 31, 2020. The trip will be from June 18 to July 3, 2020.

[Unicum] PÁLYÁZATI FELHÍVÁS: Tündérszó meseíró pályázat

A székesfehérvári Gárdonyi Géza Művelődési Ház és Könyvtár Egyesület XI. alkalommal hirdeti meg határok nélküli meseíró pályázatát.


A pályázatra a világ bármely országában élő 8–15 éves gyermekek magyar nyelven írott meséit várjuk e-mailben, csatolt Microsoft Word dokumentumban, vagy postai úton 4 példányban, 2020. március 13-ig.


A pályázatra a 2005. január 1-je és 2011. december 31-e között született gyermekek meséit fogadjuk.

A mese mellé, kérjük, feltétlenül csatolják 1.) a meseíró nevét, 2.) születési idejét (év, hónap, nap), 3.) postacímét (ország, település, utca, házszám, irányítószám), és 4.) szülei egyikének lehetőleg e-mail címét, vagy telefonszámát!


A pályaművek terjedelme legföljebb 6000 karakter (szóközök nélkül) lehet.
Formátum: TNR betűtípus, 12-es betűméret, 1,5 sorköz, sorkizárt rendezés, normál margó.


Témájukkal, irodalmi formájukkal kapcsolatban nincs semmiféle megkötés. Egy pályázó csak egy mesét küldhet a zsűrinek. A pályázó a mese elküldésével hozzájárul műve bármilyen formában történő, külön ellenszolgáltatás nélküli, későbbi nyilvánosságra hozásához.


A pályázat szellemi mecénása Lezsák Sándor költő, a Magyar Országgyűlés alelnöke.


A bírálóbizottság neves írókból áll. A díjnyerteseket oklevéllel és egyedi művészeti alkotással jutalmazzuk. A döntést követő ünnepélyes eredményhirdetés 2020. június elején lesz Székesfehérváron.


A díjazottakat 2020. május 8-ig telefonon vagy e-mailben értesítjük, illetve névsorukat a www.ggmuvhaz.hu honlapon közzétesszük.

A legjobb írásokat az Egyesület egy későbbi időpontban megjelenteti.
