(Career Progress) Veracity Media is hiring Digital Strategists (Washington, D.C.)

Veracity Media, a start-up digital strategy firm based in Washington D.C., is looking for tech-savvy organizers to run smart, effective and comprehensive digital campaigns for great organizations. We work with political campaigns, non-profits, startups, schools, and governments to get our clients' message out and achieve their goals.

Over the past year, we've worked with top-tier, competitive Senate and House campaigns, large advocacy organizations like Rebuild the Dream and 350.org, for-profits like Airbnb, and projects for Hillary Clinton's book and Malala Yousafzai.

A typical day for a Digital Strategist at Veracity might include drafting and sending emails blasts, calling with clients to discuss campaign strategy, creating and posting social media content, editing website pages, project-managing a website build, training clients on different software, managing digital advertising campaigns, doing analytics reporting and much more. Multi-tasking, attention to detail, confidence, creativity and quick learning are all musts for this position.

If you like politics and advocacy, are a strong team player, and believe you have what it takes to use a client's message to develop an expansive digital organizing effort that achieves results, this is the position for you.

The following list of skills and experiences are all valuable to the position. None are required, but these are all skills our current strategists use daily:

  • 2 cycles or more of political campaign field organizing experience

  • 1 cycle or more of political campaign digital experience

  • 1 cycle or more of political campaign communications experience

  • Excellent writing ability

  • Project management and client delivery experience

  • Website project management (non-technical)

  • Management of large/influential social media accounts

  • Managed or worked on mass email campaigns to large/influential lists

  • Online advertising: Facebook, Google Adwords, Twitter, etc.

  • Design: Photoshop/Illustrator/etc.

  • Coding: HTML, CSS, Javascript, Ruby/Rails, etc.

  • Online organizing platforms: NationBuilder, NGP-VAN, ActionKit, etc.

  • Database management: Voterfile, Excel, SQL, Stata, etc.

Veracity Media is a scrappy start-up with an office in Logan Circle. We have a great, tight-knit team, and working at Veracity is challenging, but also a lot of fun. Digital Strategists are expected to go above and beyond to ensure client satisfaction.

This is a D.C. based position. Remote applicants will not be considered. Interviews may take place over the phone or in person. Applicants may be asked to submit work samples beyond what is initially provided. We offer competitive salary, based on experience (not campaign wafes), and you will have access to Veracity's health benefit package as well as the potential for more benefits down the road.

Please submit your resume, cover letter, any work samples you find relevant, and favorite ice cream flavor to jobs@veracitymedia.com.

(Career Progress) Fwd: UltraViolet is hiring a Campaign Director! (Virtual)

Apply for this position at http://ultraviolet.theresumator.com/apply/

About UltraViolet

UltraViolet is an online community of women and men fighting to expand women's rights and combat sexism everywhere—from politics and government to media and pop culture. We're looking for a Campaign Director to help lead our work, grow our community, and take UltraViolet to the next level.

With more than 550,000 members across every state and congressional district, we make our voices heard to further the cause of full equality, empower women, and fight attacks on women's rights. Since our launch in early 2012, millions have spoken out in favor of fair pay, equal representation, and health care, and protested against far-right attempts to control women's health and lives. We've successfully campaigned to have Facebook add the first woman to its corporate board, got over a hundred advertisers to drop the Rush Limbaugh show, pushed Reebok to withdraw its sponsorship of rapper Rick Ross due to his sexually violent lyrics, and successfully pressured authorities in Steubenville, Ohio to indict four school administrators for covering up the now-infamous rape of a teenage girl.

Equality at a higher frequency is what we're all about.

About the Campaign Director position

The UltraViolet Campaign Director is a senior position at the center of our fights for equality and against sexism. As Campaign Director, you would identify and run campaigns from start to finish, everything from drafting the email, to analyzing metrics, to running an on-the-ground protest or event.

You also have the chance to help build our organization. Just over two years old, UltraViolet members have already had a serious impact — but there is so much more to do. This position is a real chance to help build for the future.

For the Campaign Director position, we're looking for someone who has a proven ability to run high profile, rapid response, online campaigns that engage hundreds of thousands of people and garner national media attention. We are also looking for a proven project manager with experience directing a team of at least 2 to 4 people. If you an instinct for breakout campaigns, an eye for media-worthiness, a sharp sense of strategy, and experience managing a state or national-level online campaign effort, you should apply for this position.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer who is creative, entrepreneurial, detail-oriented, and flexible. They should be comfortable juggling multiple tasks, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be an expert with tech-based, online campaigning methods. Most of all, they should have the knack for campaigning: the ability to spot a moment, the willingness to go after any target, and the determination to keep pushing, even in the face of long odds. We're looking for someone who can spot an opportunity at 9 am, test the campaign by mid-morning, and launch that same day. A sense of humor and ability to work with our small (and mighty) team is a must.

The Campaign Director will report to the President of Campaigns and Communications. UltraViolet operates a virtual office and has staff throughout the country. Location for this position is flexible. However, UltraViolet operates rapid response campaigns on East Coast time — which means PT and MT applicants should expect to begin work by 10 AM ET/7 AM PT at the latest most days of the week, and be ready and willing to begin work at 9 AM ET/6 AM PT if needed.

Responsibilities:

Campaign Identification and Planning

Monitor political and social events for their potential to become campaigns and propose ideas for new campaigns.

Develop detailed campaign plans; solicit input from team members and partners.

Drive strategic and tactical planning and decision-making on key issues and campaigns

Monitor UltraViolet e-mail from members during campaigns and engage with those who write in as relevant.

Campaign Production and Management

Create campaign materials: emails, blog posts, op-eds, campaign pages, etc.

Interface with partners and consultants (e.g., designers, technology providers, etc.).

Stage email outreaches, landing pages, and other necessary technology set up. Work with our technology and design team to develop new projects and technology.

Coordinate on-the-ground events, such as petition deliveries, house parties, and rallies.

Manage member inquiries and issues related to the campaign, as needed.

Campaign Analysis

Continually analyze and report out on data and impact during campaigns.

Conduct internal campaign evaluations including lessons learned.

Qualifications:

-3 to 5 years relevant campaigning experience

-Experience with communications and media strategies; proven track record of generating earned media

-Proven writing ability in relevant setting (think action alerts, not thesis papers)

-Project and staff management experience (previous experience managing a team of two to four)

-Familiarity with online campaigning, including HTML

-Ability and willingness to turn on a dime when opportunity knocks

-A team player who also can work and manage projects independently

-High comfort level with technology

-Comfortable with a virtual office.

-Knowledge about political and cultural issues related to women's issues is a plus

Details:

Contact — Apply for this position at http://ultraviolet.theresumator.com/apply/

Timing — Resumes will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Location — UltraViolet operates a virtual office and has staff throughout the country.

Salary — Commensurate with experience and skills. Competitive benefits package.

UltraViolet is an equal opportunity employer.
