GALVANIZE: THE B WORD/Jared Shamberger
Check out the fantastic things playwright/Actor/writer/activist Jared Shamberger of The Welders 3.0 has cookin when you read this article authored by good brother Gregory Ford!!
THE B WORD written and performed by Jared Shamberger, directed by Raymond O Caldwell, Streaming July 30th thru August 15th.
https://www.thewelders.org/shows/the-b-word/
OCOMOGOSIAY!!
🎭✊🏾❤🖤💚💛
'If you have been watching the DC theater scene, you have probably heard of Jared Shamberger. He was a member both of the 2018 Helen Hayes Award–winning production Still Life with Rocket and of the highly acclaimed reimagining of Day of Absence by Douglas Turner Ward. Both of these performances were produced under the umbrella of the small, formidable, and feisty, Anacostia-based theater company Theater Alliance. (If you haven't seen something by Theater Allliance, you should. The B Word is, in fact, directed by Theater Alliance Artistic Director Raymond Caldwell. So when you see The B Word, you'll get an intimation of the Theater Alliance boldness.)
Jared has also been a reliable presence with both Alan Sharpe's African-American Collective Theater and the Brave Soul Collective, of which he (along with Monte J Wolfe and others) is a founding member. Both of these theater companies focus on the stories of Black LGBTQ+ lives. "The B Word is an extension of all of those things. I wouldn't be doing the work that I am doing if it weren't for Alan and Monte. [Working with these two companies has clarified for me that] visibility is important, being able to tell the stories that I want to tell in the way the I want to tell them without the barrier of a theater company or a group of people saying. 'We would love to do your work but we have to change this or that.' It's important to be in control of your own story. If you are not telling your story other people will tell It for you."'
--Gregory Ford
The B Word presented by The Welders will stream on demand July 30 through August 15, 2021. Tickets are available online.https://www.thewelders.org/shows/the-b-word/

(Career Progress) Pantheon Analytics is Hiring an Analyst
About Pantheon Analytics: At Pantheon, we are progressive data nerds who strive to find creative solutions to a variety of problems. Our clients rely on us as an on-call data team, ready to answer questions through rigorous analysis and data engineering. Our small team works primarily with organizations in Democratic politics and the wider progressive sphere. We run experiments, create data pipelines, design surveys, analyze voter files, build models, and program automated reports.
The Analyst will be reporting to one or both of the co-founders of Pantheon Analytics and will provide analytics and programming support. The Analyst will work closely with our team to find creative solutions for the data problems our clients bring to us. We strive to create a welcoming workplace that reflects progressive movement's values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are aware, though, that we have fallen short of ensuring adequate racial and gender diversity within our small but growing team. We are committed to doing better. Equal employment matters to us, not just as progressives but as data scientists specifically. At Pantheon, we are constantly working with databases of voters, activists, and donors -- diverse populations where understanding the cultural and political context is vital. Our work is stronger when it is the product of different perspectives and backgrounds. We strongly encourage diverse candidates to apply for this role.
We are looking for someone who is smart and has some of the skills below, but we are flexible and willing to mold the position to fit your strong suits. We encourage you to apply even if you only meet some of the "requirements".
On some projects the Analyst will serve as a supporting team member, giving you an opportunity to learn from our team and grow your analytics skills in new directions. On other projects you will serve as a lead, letting you flex your creative analytical skills and independent work ethic.
Whether through coursework, trainings, or job experience, Analyst candidates should have some background in programming, data science, statistics, or a related field.
As an Analyst, you may:
- Take on independent data analysis and/or programming projects, depending on skill set
- Run weekly data reports for ongoing client projects
- Analyze the results of election-related experiments
- Compile datasets from voter files, Census data, and other data sources
- Write and/or edit data-focused reports and newsletters
- Join team on client calls and presentations
- Create automated scripts to perform a variety of needed tasks (e.g. data syncs, client facing reports, API integrations, etc)
- Other work as assigned
- Experience with relational databases (SQL experience preferred)
Strong knowledge of advanced Excel capabilities (such as the ability to create pivot tables, write complex formulas, etc)
A well defined equity lens and passion for Pantheon's commitment to progressive politics
Self motivated & strong remote-team communication skills
Excellent organizational, time-management, oral and written communications skills
General knowledge of statistics and analytical reasoning
Ability to explain the products of your data work to people without a background in data
Experience with scripting or software development languages - Python experience preferred
The following skills are helpful to have, but are not required. If you have any of these skills, please be sure to note them in your cover letter and/or resume:
Proficiency with Python analytics libraries such as NumPy and Pandas or in the R statistical programming language, Stata/SPSS.

(Career Progress) Economic Security Project is Hiring a Development Director!!
Economic Security Project
Development Manager
Reports to: Director of Resources & Evaluation
Full Time, Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
The Economic Security Project (ESP) is seeking a Development Manager to provide critical management of and support to the organization's fundraising functions. This position will report to and work closely with the Director of Resources & Evaluation to meet ESP's annual fundraising goals and provide superior stewardship and cultivation of both existing and prospective donors. ESP is a $11+ million organization and works primarily with foundation and individual donors.
About Us
We live in a time of historic economic uncertainty. The dramatic increase in unreliable work and the concentration of wealth in too few hands threatens to undermine the foundation of the modern social contract: the idea that if you work hard and play by the rules, you can get ahead in America. Low-income Americans are struggling to pay heating bills and make rent, and many in the middle class live on the financial brink as skyrocketing housing, childcare, and medical costs overwhelm stagnating incomes. Nearly 40 percent of Americans do not have enough savings on hand to cover a $400 emergency. Technological advancements threaten to accelerate these trends.
The Economic Security Project challenges this status quo by catalyzing ideas that build economic power for all Americans. We serve as convener, strategist, and funder. We disburse grants, identify gaps, develop communications research to inform the movements, and coordinate events and convenings to encourage investment and action from others. We aim to support the emerging leaders in the economic justice field and ensure they have the networks, know-how, and resources to succeed.
We've identified two fights we think we can win: (1) a guaranteed income that would provide an income floor for all Americans and (2) anti-monopoly action to rein in the unprecedented concentration of corporate power. We pick our fights based on our analysis of where our team can add value, where there are gaps in the existing ecosystem, and where a little push could turn an idea from a trend into a substantive intervention that improves people's lives.
Economic Security Project is a 501(c)(3) with a 501(c)(4) sister organization, Economic Security Project Action. Economic Security Project is co-chaired by Natalie Foster, Chris Hughes, and Dorian Warren. The Economic Security Project's Executive Director, Taylor Jo Isenberg, has over ten years of experience building complex organizations. We've recruited a high-caliber team of campaigners, communicators, and operators to help us realize our vision.
Job Responsibilities
Donor engagement, cultivation, and stewardship (70%)
Lead on donor cultivation and stewardship activities for both current and prospective donors; involves close coordination with and managing up of senior and executive staff, who act as the "face" of ESP and hold the relationships with funders
Draft grant proposals, reports, LOIs, concept notes, overviews, updates, and other documents/collateral/content for funders and general fundraising purposes in collaboration with colleagues within ESP as well as with key external partners
Plan and manage the logistics for fundraising-related events and meetings; work with executive and programs staff on event content
Lead or support on new projects and initiatives for donors (e.g. instituting mid-tier donor program), depending on the project/initiative
Develop deep familiarity with ESP's donor portfolio
Back-end data management, cross-team coordination, and team support (30%)
Keep development/donor information up-to-date in database and newsletter list, with an eye towards timeliness and data accuracy/integrity
Build out and keeping fresh ESP's prospective donor pipeline, with an eye especially towards building out ESP's portfolio of major donors
Research existing and prospective donors, e.g. for meetings, events, and prospecting
Engage in gift administration, including gift processing; also involves playing a key role in coordinating with the programs team to ensure ESP is on track for all donor expectations, deliverables, and metrics
Support in creating and improving processes and systems to elevate ESP's development shop
Support with other tasks as needed
Qualifications
At least five years of experience in a position with transferable skills or a Bachelor's degree and at least three years of experience in a position with transferable skills; strong preference for prior experience with fundraising/development within a nonprofit setting
Experience with and/or commitment to economic, social, and racial justice, including the ability to discuss these issues and their intersections in a nuanced manner
Excellent written, speaking, editing, and research skills, including the ability to seek out and synthesize complex information from disparate sources
Top-notch project management skills, including the ability to manage outputs from staff at all levels of the organization
High level of relational awareness, emotional intelligence, and a "customer service" orientation, especially when engaging with current and prospective donors
The ability and willingness to regularly manage data and ensure it's updated on a continuous basis, including pulling information from colleagues as needed
Ability to work on deadline, adapt to changing situations, prioritize, and switch between different projects and tasks on short notice
Quick learner and ability to take initiative and problem-solve
Experience with major gifts, event planning, and/or engagement strategies a plus
Experience with Raiser's Edge, Asana, Slack, and G Suite a plus
The Economic Security Project is a virtual office with staff across the country. The Development Manager will report to the Director of Resources & Evaluation, who is based in metro Atlanta, GA. Can you tell us about a time you centered equity and inclusion in your current or in a previous role?
Without simply rehashing your resume, please give a high-level summary of your experience with fundraising/development, with a focus on your accomplishments. If you do not have prior fundraising/development experience, please lay out how your prior experience and skills would be applicable to the Development Manager role.
The writing sample should be a piece of recent work that you produced in either an academic or professional setting. Please only submit pieces for which you completed a significant majority (85+ percent) of both the drafting and editing.
Because the Economic Security Project values a diverse and representative workplace, people who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, and people of all gender identities are strongly encouraged to apply. ESP is committed to attracting, developing, and retaining exceptional people, and to creating a work environment that is dynamic, rewarding, and enables each of us to realize our potential. Our work environment is safe and open to all employees and partners, respecting the full spectrum of race, color, religious creed, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, political affiliation, ancestry, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, and all other classifications protected by law in the locality and/or state in which you are working.
