LCV is hiring for a Campaigns Coordinator to join our campaigns team. This position will assist with the tracking of departmental budgets, research and preparation of materials, compliance reporting related to LCV’s affiliated political committees, and provide administrative support to the SVP for Campaigns and the Campaigns department. This position is critical to the infrastructure of the department, ensuring that logistics and operations are managed smoothly for the overall success of programs led by the Campaigns department.

General Description:

The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) works to turn environmental values into national, state and local priorities. LCV, in collaboration with our state LCV partners, advocates for sound environmental laws and policies, holds elected officials accountable for their votes and actions, and elects pro-environment candidates who will champion our priority issues.

LCV, state LCVs and their affiliated PACs spent $80 million on federal and state races in the 2018 cycle – double the 2016 cycle. Through its affiliated PACs, LCV runs electoral campaigns to build pro-environmental political power in order to pass policies that protect our environment and communities most impacted by climate change and environmental injustices. The Campaigns Coordinator will directly support the Senior Vice President for Campaigns as well as the overall operations of the Campaigns department. This position will assist with the tracking of departmental budgets, research and preparation of materials, compliance reporting related to LCV’s affiliated political committees, and provide administrative support to the SVP for Campaigns and the Campaigns department. This position is critical to the infrastructure of the department, ensuring that logistics and operations are managed smoothly for the overall success of programs led by the Campaigns department.

 

Responsibilities:

Budget & Administrative Support

  • Track Campaigns department spending for LCV and related entities.
  • Provide general administrative support to Campaigns Department, process department check requests, maintain list serves and schedule department meetings.
  • Assist SVP for Campaigns with scheduling, travel logistics and other administrative needs.
  • Record and distribute meeting notes, materials and minutes for key Board Committees and other meetings with outside organizations.
  • Support state affiliate political director trainings, surveys and meetings.
  • Archive all department wide materials and documents.
  • Contribute to LCV’s commitment to integrating racial justice and equity into the work we do and ensuring an inclusive organizational culture and help the Campaigns department achieve their annual racial justice and equity goals.

Research & Organizing Reports

  • Assist the SVP for Campaigns and National Campaigns Directors in preparing electoral and issue campaign plans along with fundraising proposals.
  • Organize all Campaigns department written materials for Board, donor and coalition meetings and pitches.
  • Draft meeting materials for Board and outside organization meetings.
  • Assist the Research Director with candidate and issues research.
  • Prepare reports and memos for Board and donor meetings demonstrating current program and outside spending, in coordination with the National Campaigns Directors.
  • Prepare post-election analysis materials for Board and donor meetings.
  • Prepare programs’ materials for the Climate Action teams, as needed.

Administer related PACs & FEC compliance

  • Monitor LCV and affiliated PAC independent expenditures, PAC expenses, and all relevant information reported to the FEC.
  • Assist with 24/48-hour independent expenditure reporting with FEC Compliance Team.
  • Organize and monitor submission and review of all campaigns contracts to the legal department.
  • Track and update expense dates and independent expenditure dissemination dates for the FEC Compliance Team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Work Experience: Two to four years’ experience in administrative, campaign, advocacy or related work. Experience with scheduling, filing and archiving systems, logistical support, and production of written materials required. Experience with budget tracking preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent research skills; well-organized; highly attentive to detail and able to take ownership of routine tasks; ability to work well in a fast-paced environment; ability to multitask without sacrificing quality of work, working across departments to achieve shared goals; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive.
  • Cultural Competence: Shares our commitment to increasing racial diversity in our movement and organization, integrating justice and equity into the work we do and ensuring an inclusive organizational culture. Interest in environmental issues, issue advocacy and electoral campaigns.
  • Conditions: Able to work hours in excess of stated office hours to get the job done, as needed. The position is based in Washington, D.C.
