(Career Progress) Opening: Talent Acquisition Manager_ Community Change

Our vision of a better world centers the leadership of impacted people of color to move our work on immigrant rights, economic justice, and racial equity, including a focus on jobs and housing, early childhood care and education, income supports, and immigration reform.

This position also supports Community Change Action, an affiliated 501(c)(4) advocacy organization. While motivated by the same core values – equity, inclusion, and justice – Community Change and Community Change Action operate independently of one another and each organization has its own board of directors.

Position Description:

The Talent Acquisition Manager is responsible for managing the administration of the full recruitment life cycle starting from creating and sustaining employer brand awareness, to the application, selection and onboarding. The Talent Acquisition Manager is highly relational, and works closely with hiring managers and the Director of Talent Acquisition to support an equitable and effective recruitment, hiring and onboarding process.  

A portion of time will be spent working with Community Change's sister organization, Community Change Action.
Principal Responsibilities:

Talent Acquisition (Administration of Recruitment and Onboarding) (80%)

  • Manage the administration and day-to-day functions of recruitment and onboarding including pipeline development/sourcing, posting, screening, references, offer, and onboarding.

  • Serve as lead for managing and coordinating (scheduling, agenda, meeting logistics and follow-up) key talent acquisition-related efforts including, including New Staff Orientations, New Staff Buddy System, etc.

  • Manage orientation schedules and onboarding process for new employees, and help to design new hires onboarding experience surveys and analyze feedback.

  • Support efficient recruitment and onboarding systems and processes by developing strong partnerships and communication with hiring managers.

  • Ensure staff are updated on talent developments, including job openings, professional development opportunities, and the other relevant news in a timely manner..

  • Partner with key staff to manage and promote strong brand and presence on external sites/boards (including our organizational websites, LinkedIn, etc.). 

  • Provide logistical support, process and submit expense reimbursements, contracts, and invoices.

  • Provide support to general People and Culture projects and initiatives.

Talent Acquisition Data, Systems and Processes (20%)

  • Manage and maintain accurate applicant tracking system (ATS) and data.

  • Support strategic coordination across People Ops data systems and processes.

  • Provide support and data entry to the Human Resources Information System (Paycom).

  • Track and analyze data metrics around attracting and retaining talent through staff surveys and other forms of feedback.

  • Regularly evaluate and leverage data to continually assess and evolve recruitment and onboarding systems, policies and practices to make sure they are equitable and effective.

Qualifications: 

  • 3-5 years work experience in People Operations and data systems, and ideally in a social justice or nonprofit environment.

  • Demonstrates diplomacy and an ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Results-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills; excellent problem-solving and follow-through skills.

  • Ability to plan and prioritize work activities, use time efficiently, complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and follow-up on assignments with a minimum of direction.

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communications skills. Can work well with staff at all levels of the organization and with others outside the organization.

  • An understanding of how the interrelationship of people/processes and technologies create results and the ability to navigate and build relationships and strategic partnerships at all levels across the organization and externally.  

  • Ability to react quickly within a constantly changing environment. Flexibility to adapt style and method based on what is needed.

  • A proactive approach to duties, continually looking at ways to improve processes and efficiency of the department. Remains open to others' ideas and exhibits willingness to try new things and new ways.

  • Uses initiative to deliver overall objectives; knows when to seek guidance or escalate to others and takes appropriate action to minimize issues.

  • Strong computer and internet research skills. Proficiency using MS Outlook, office applications such as Google Suite.

  • Must be comfortable using data and technology to increase efficiency, enhance decision-making and better support our organizational goals.

  • Commitment to advancing economic and race and gender justice.

This position reports to: Director of Talent Acquisition

Classification: Community Change recognizes a staff bargaining unit affiliated with IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is not included in Community Change's bargaining unit therefore not covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

Travel Requirements: This position may require some limited travel.

Salary & benefits: Community Change offers competitive salary and an excellent benefits package, which includes 4 weeks of annual paid vacation; additional paid holiday leave between December 24 and January 1; 8% employer contribution to retirement account after six months of employment (and 3% employer contribution for the first 6 months); and a choice of generous health insurance plans.

Position Location: Community Change/Action is based in Washington, DC.  Washington, DC is the preferred location for this position.  Remote work is acceptable, however (frequent) visits to the DC office will be required upon the office reopening from the COVID-19 pandemic.
